Schopenhauer is considered to be the most accessible of German philosophers. This book gives a succinct explanation of his metaphysical system, concentrating on the original aspects of his thought, which inspired many artists and thinkers including Nietzsche, Wagner, Freud, and Wittgenstein. This book should be called "a very short summary", not "a very short introduction". It nicely sums up Schopenhauers ideas, but if you listen to it without any foreknowledge about Schopenhauer (and Plato and Kant), this book will not help you understand his ideas. It raises more questions than it answers, in a bad way.

The narration is fine if you speed it up slightly. It's quite monotone, but not annoying or distracting.
