About this listen
A new ship. A new crew. A different kind of mission.
When Manchester Yards donates a new training vessel to the Merchant Officer Academy at Port Newmar, Alys Giggone recalls the Chernyakova.
She wants Ishmael Wang and his crew to take a crew of cadets into the Deep Dark. They have to sort out the crews of two ships, figure out what lessons they need to teach, and who will get those lessons.
Once they agree, the trouble starts.

It's been years and many books now since that change and it's taken til the last coupleof books for me to finally begin to hear Jeffrey and accept him and wouldn't want anyone else now.
As for the story, joining back up with Ishmael and crew is always like putting on an old pair of slippers and feeling thatcomfort of knowing that you are going to sit down and be cosy for however many hours it takes you to listen.
When i first listened to one of Nathan's books way back when on Podiobooks my first review was titled 'In space, no-one can hear you clean' and nothing much has changed.
Nathan can make the mundanity of every day life so eminently listenable, he takes thebanality of every day tasks and has you rapt with attention.
I really don't know how he does it, it's some sort of alchemy that's never been reproduced, I wouldn't want it to be either as Nathan's stories and style are so uniquely his.
As always five stars across the boards, now it's the wait for book 2. Let's see where the Marva Collins and the Chernyakova end up.
