Summary

Eric Riordan thought he had seen the worst the post-outbreak world had to offer.

He was wrong.

As the Midwest Alliance puts plans in motion to touch off a civil war, Eric and a group of elite warriors are recruited to stop them. To prevent disaster, they will venture into the heart of enemy territory on an assassination mission. To survive, Eric will have to call on all his training, willpower, and strength - because this fight will determine not only his future, but the fate of an entire nation.

And if he fails, the enemy will show no mercy.

Decent volume, having a hard time liking Eric anymore.

Decent story, though I’m starting to dislike Eric a bit. He seems to pick a fight and act entitled like a spoiled teen. Like he has to prove he belongs and has the best gear, everyone already knows who he is, yet he feels like he has to fight or threaten anyone who looks at him.

Reminds me of the type of kid who gets accidentally tripped playing basketball then takes his ball and goes home. I’ll listen to the next volumes, mostly because I want to hear what happens to Gabe and Caleb.

James Cook does it again!!

I've read every book in the Surviving the Dead series and have thoroughly enjoyed EVERY ONE. I HIGHLY recommend this book and the series to anyone who appreciates a great story and characters development, horror and realism. I'd give it 6 stars if possible. can't wait until the next book.
Oh and it has zombies and they are testifying!

Did not disappoint

Once again, Eric and Gabe along with Great Hawk and a few other elite soldiers are asked to sacrifice their time and possibly their lives. However, the new mission will have far reaching consequences for both the Union and the Alliance. Eric will have to make a choice, leave a pregnant wife for a mission he might never return from or stay with many regrets. Gabe is who he is. He too is at the cross roads of his life but for him the choice is easy as it is for Great Hawk. If they can pull this off, the Union will be on the way to mending a very fractured country. If they fail.... Eric is not happy with many of the decisions that are being made with him being privy to almost none of why. But he will do what ever he must to ensure the safety of his wife and unborn child. ...Failure is not an option. Good addition to an already great story line.

another great listen in this series.

Love this series. The "bromance" between Eric and Gabe and their little verbal jousts seems a little unnecessary and forced at times. My only negative comment.
