Summary

In this landmark work on a subject too often dismissed as paranormal or disreputable, Jeffrey Meldrum gives us the first book on Sasquatch to be written by a scientist with impeccable academic credentials. He gives an objective look at the facts in a field mined with hoaxes and sensationalism.

Meldrum reports on the work of a team of experts from a wide variety of fields who were assembled to examine the evidence for a large, yet undiscovered, North American primate. He reviews the long history of this mystery - which long predates the "Bigfoot" flap of the late 50s - and explains all the scientific pros and cons in a clear and accessible style.

Anyone who has pondered the mysteries of human evolution will be fascinated and eager to join Dr. Meldrum in drawing their own conclusion.

Thought provoking unbiased view of evedence

This is one of the most thorough books on the evidence surrounding the mystery of the American wild man. Dr. Meldrum has always approached this subject with a very open mind and fair representation of what others seem to dismiss. The scientific approach is refreshing and free of embellishment. For those who are willing to read with an open mind there is new material here that you may not have been aware of. I highly recommend for those who are looking for honest answers relating to this topic.

Brief summary

Thorough and scientifically objective. One would think the subject deserves this outlook in every publication.

A scientific perspective

I enjoyed it even though most of it was over my head as a lot of time is spent talking about anatomy. I like that the subject is being taken seriously by at least SOME qualified people. I believe it deserves that.

Good

There's no such thing as bigfoot. But listening to this book really helps me fall asleep at night.

Maybe too scientific for the lay reader

If you are hoping for a collection of spooky campfire stories, this is certainly not your book. There are a few spooky stories, but they are few and relatively far between. The book is focused on the science. So much so that many readers are going to be put off by the scientific jargon and footprint details that only a podiatrist could love (or understand). I finally gave up midway through the book. But at least I came away with a stronger feeling that there may be something big and hairy behind all those spooky campfire stories.

I wish most books on the subject were like.

this was a will constructed a well-thought-out argument for the possible existence of the creature knows Bigfoot.

Finally a scientists perspective

I enjoyed Dr. Meldrums analysis of this subject greatly and his take on the subject was refreshing to see that he has an open mind, let alone his bravery to say so openly.
