Story
No Shame is a very funny, candid and emotional ride of a memoir by one of our most beloved comedians. The working-class son of a coach driver and the youngest member of the Noel Coward Society, Tom Allen grew up in '90s suburbia as the eternal outsider. In these hilarious, honest and heart-breaking stories Tom recalls observations on childhood, his adolescence, the family he still lives with and his attempts to come out and negotiate the gay dating scene. They are written with his trademark caustic wit and warmth, and will entertain, surprise and move you in equal measure.

The thing is, this is a bit different to most memoirs you may have listened to, because it comes in the form of an A-Z. Anyway, I hope you buy it at least twice. Thank you.

Summary
Joining us at Audible Studios is award winning comedian, presenter, actor and author Russell Kane, who has just released his book, The Son of a Silverback.
Kane was born in London and was brought up in Essex. He initially worked as an advertising copywriter but went on to pursue a career in comedy and in 2004 won the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year.
In August 2006 Kane performed his debut comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe, entitled The Theory of Pretension. He has hosted Big Brother's Big Mouth as well as a show on Q Radio.
Kane has performed for the BBC's Live at the Apollo and has toured the country with his stand-up shows. His other presenting stints include I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Geordie Shore: The Reunion. His show, Freak Like Me, aired on BBC Three during 2010, and he won a Children in Need special edition of Mastermind. And that’s not to mention his very popular podcast, Evil Genius. Kane's first book, The Humourist, was published in 2012, and his next title, Son of a Silverback, released in 2019, a story of growing up with his alpha male dad.
We chat about that in this interview as well as masculinity, how much he is or isn’t like Matilda, and narrating his audiobook.

Have never overly taken to his comedy but heard him talk on another podcast and thought he came across really well as a person. This is another example of that. Will be giving his standup another chance now
