Summary

When a woman runs from family, fortune, and secrets, love follows in New York Times bestselling author Ruth Cardello’s dazzling romance.

The Boston Westerlys are reuniting for a wedding - a longtime wish for its matriarch. If only Nicolette, the youngest of the clan’s siblings, could find love. With her true parentage suddenly in question, she feels like more of an outsider than ever. It figures that the one guest of any comfort is her grandmother’s greatest enemy. Now, Nicolette’s only impulse is to run. Disappearing to a small Iowa town, she can build a future on her terms without the Westerly name or money - or the secrets that have divided the family for years.

Despite his damning history with the Westerlys, Bryant Taunton recognizes a kindred spirit in Nicolette. He is drawn to the beautiful loner. When she vanishes, he follows. But Bryant has his own secrets, and gaining Nicolette’s trust won’t be easy. It might even require the help of the family she left behind.

Now, for Nicolette and Bryant, coming to terms with the past is the only way to make both their dreams come true, and to finally find a way home.

Meh

The storyline was pretty good, but the narrator was strange at times. Whenever she tried to use a different voice for different characters it sounded stilted like a robot or a computer program. It got worse as the book went on to where I was really glad when it was over. I liked the storyline enough though that I wanted to finish the book.

Witty

Overall, not bad. Take away the cheesy factor- instalove, sex scenes repeated over and over and it's not half bad. This addition to the series has a good bit of humor in it from various characters. That's a good thing. While the main character is somewhat strong and independent, she often times comes across as just plain bitchy. I think there's a fine line between the two when writers are developing the story, and it doesn't always work out the way it should. Plus, Nicolette is so wishy washy with Bryant about wanting him around, not wanting him around. Ugh. Make your mind up lady. I wish these romance writers would stop giving their characters so many hang ups. Daddy issues, family issues, past love and hurt issues--- get over it already! Write the characters to be stronger than that! Can we please start seeing characters that are not in their late twenties and early thirties?!?! Hello- there are plenty of older aged characters out there to be written about who have more things to worry about than past loves or people who wronged them. The older characters want and need to be written and be loved just as much as the younger ones. Plus they should be smarter and more realistic than these younger characters!

ONE OF MY FAVORITES IN THIS SERIES!

This story had a nice flow to it.

Storylines from previous books are nicely closed on this one, while the main characters go through their own obstacle course to reach their Happily Ever After!

Well narrated and a good solid story all around.

Recommended listen!
