Summary

Pubblicata per la prima volta nel 1878 nella pagine de Il Fanfulla, "Rosso Malpelo" è diventata nel corso degli anni un classico della letteratura italiana. Una novella che rappresenta ancora oggi una testimonianza vivida delle durissime condizioni dei lavoratori delle cave siciliane dell'800, costretti a una "non vita" fatta di fatiche e sofferenze estreme. La tragica parabola umana di Malpelo, costretto a lavorare duramente e osteggiato dai compagni a causa dell'ignoranza e dei pregiudizi, è un monito esemplare che può insegnarci molto sull'importanza della dignità del lavoro e della persona.

Brilliant Italian literature

Incredibile story of deep poverty in a Sicilian village. Cruelty of human beings when they struggle to survive hunger and cold.
