Summary

In a league full of troublemakers, Cold Fury defenseman Roman Sýkora stands out - at least when it comes to negative publicity. When he's not chilling in the penalty box, the sizzling Czech skate demon is racking up tabloid headlines for his scandalous behavior with the ladies. But now Roman's feeling the burn from management to clean up his act, or else. Luckily he's got an enticing distraction: a fun-loving barista who plays the ukulele and brings out a side of Roman he didn't know he had.

Lexi Robertson came to Raleigh, North Carolina, to finally meet her father, Brian Brannon, and her half sister, Gray, both of whom work in the Cold Fury's front office. That's where she first meets sexy, intimidating Roman - who's really a big softie at heart. As one relationship takes off, another begins: Brian seems to be clicking with Lexi's boss at the coffeeshop. But when the friction between Roman and her new family heats up, Lexi wonders whether she's a pawn in their game. Feeling hurt and foolish, Lexi's ready to quit while she's ahead. Trouble is, Roman's not ready to quit on her.

Unapologetic Bad Boy on Ice

Roman is so bad that he's good -- truly another ice hockey god. And definitely good for the sweet and charming Lexie. The special treat of this book is that it's two love stories in one book. The Brannons are an endearing family and they find a way to pass that sense of family throughout the Cold Fury team. I love that these relationships are so entwined with the team and team politics. Sawyer Bennett has written another hit in this series.

The narrators were good but Graham Halstead did not speak Roman's voice with an accent. I really wanted to hear the accent.

Definitely worth a credit. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

loved this book

By far my favorite book of the series. Both of the narrator's did an excellent job on this book. They captured the bad boy perfectly, and Lexie character had me laughing out loud more than once. Great overall story. I can't wait for Lucas.

Really fun!

I highly enjoyed this 7th book in the Cold Fury hockey series! Roman, the hero, is one of those players who is always making trouble for the team, whether it's fights or naked pics on Twitter. The heroine, Lexie, is the unknown daughter of Brian Brannon and sister to Gray Brannon. Gray is suspicious at first, but comes to accept that she has a sister. Roman meets Lexie on the day she comes to the team offices to try to meet her father, who she found out about just before her mother's death. He's instantly drawn toward her and the feeling is mutual. Things are complicated by Gray not having any liking or respect for Roman. It's entertaining to see how all these family shenanigans work out, because Brian meets Georgia (Lexie's boss) and they fall in love too. Great narration as always! I hope there are more books in this series!

Roman & Lexi

I am absolutely in awe of the Cold Fury Hockey Men. I have read all of the previous books and have enjoyed each one of them. Now Roman, he does what he wants, says what he wants and does not care if there is anyone who does not like him for it. Underneath it all he does have the capability to love. Lexi is there to meet her father Brian, and half sister Gray. She meets Roman while waiting for Brian, and Roman is instantly smitten with her. Lexi and Roman are amazing couple. Some would say they are perfect for one another. Sawyer Bennett is one of my favorite authors.

Accent

I LOVED the story. However I’ve been itching to make this review through most of the book because of my annoyance at the narrator accents. The female narrator read Roman’s lines with a Czech accent and the male narrator gave no accent at all. I know there is no perfect way to handle the situation with accents, but at least they could have coordinated that a little bit. Leave a note for them about whether they should have an accent or not or SOMETHING. It was annoying and distracting.

Not my favorite...

Predictable. I wanted Graham Halstead to use the accent. I enjoy his narration, but it would have added something nice to it. It was syrupy sweet and I prefer the grittier hotter stories in this series. Brandon’s story was nice, Grey was a real pain in this so I her part in it distasteful. None of it was as much as I wanted it to be for Roman. Just missing that certain something.

good sports romance (2 romances in 1!)

I really liked Roman and Lexi- I really find that Sawyer Bennett does a nice job writing sympathetic characters that are flawed but still, the readers look forward to the HEA. As someone who isn't an actual fan of hockey (meaning, I don't watch it at all but love reading about it), I didn't really understand the rules that Gray, the heroine from Ryker's book kept trying to enforce. But, then again, I guess I don't actually condone fighting :D

That said, I loved Gray in her book and really really didn't like her in this book. The way she first treated Lexi, especially but also the way she treated Roman (I get business, but she wasn't even the least bit sympathetic). She really annoyed me and I hate it when I start to dislike a prior character that I previously liked. This book also covers the romance that build between Brian, Lexi and Gray's father, and Georgia, who is Lexi's boss. That was a sweet romance and I liked Brian's character very much.

Overall, though I'm really enjoying this series. It is in audible escape so I listened to the audiobook as well as read the book and the same two narrators played the roles. Both were good and in fact, Cris tried to affect a slight accent for Roman's character. But this is not as clear with Graham's reading which is inconsistent.

*le sigh*

The hopeless romantic in me totally got her money's worth with this story of blossoming love mixed with real life relationship problems, like dealing with conflicting work schedules. This story has just the right amount of heat and sweet! ❤
