I really enjoyed the earlier back story in this one of how Sam and Keith met and then reconnected. I liked seeing the McKallisters before the events that changed their lives. I found the drama at the end a bit contrived though. A good extra episode but not as good as the original Cake!
The narrator for Keith was mildly irritating with the way he emphasised ‘and’ at the start of his sentences but maybe that was deliberate? Andi Arndt was great as always.

Combine a gorgeous, heart twisting story, choc-a- block with character, humour, love, heartbreak and heart warming, and you have at your finger tips another of J Bengtsson's wonderful stories. The character development, the wit and writing, full of verve and emotion all combine to create an enchanting read. All of Julie's characters experience life's extremes and, with Keith, we have some poor choices to add to the mix. Sam is just a beautiful, strong soul. I love her!
Andi Arndt and Alex Kydd are fabulous choices for the story of Keith and Sam. They bring all the humour, wit and the sense of their struggle to find their place in life together, to vivid life. I was just completely caught up in their masterful story telling and relished every minute of this fabulous audio.💖💖💖

This was so good! filled with everything I know and love in a J. Bengtsson, filled with fantastic dialogue and white clever characters. The narration was capturing and well delivered!

J. Bengtsson is a reliably great author, and this book is a good addition to the series. I love how you see major events through a difference lens with each book and see how they have impacted everyone in the family, and the choices they make. It’s such a well thought out and well executed concept. The only downside to this book was I’m not particularly attracted to slightly dim stoners, though he was likeable. Also the drama towards the end was annoying and just there for plot drama but left me wanting to shake the characters to wake them up. The overall book was still well worth a listen though!
