In order to save the country he loves, Dylan Kane must first betray it.

Three top secret research scientists are presumed dead in a boating accident, but the kidnapping of their families the same day raises questions the FBI and local police can't answer, leaving them waiting for a ransom demand that will never come.

Central Intelligence Agency analyst Chris Leroux stumbles upon the story, and finds a phone conversation that was never supposed to happen. When he reports it to his boss, the national clandestine services chief, he is uncharacteristically reprimanded for conducting an unauthorized investigation and told to leave it to the FBI.

But he can't let it go.

For he knows something the FBI doesn't.

One of the scientists is alive.

Leroux makes a call to his childhood friend, CIA Special Agent Dylan Kane, leading to a race across the globe to stop a conspiracy reaching the highest levels of political and corporate America, that if not stopped, could lead to war with an enemy armed with a weapon far worse than anything in the American arsenal, with the potential to not only destroy the world, but consume it.

what an amazon storyline

I fancied a change to my usual UK crime stories and this did not disappoint.

Not only in the moment action and storytelling but a little more strategic and a bigger picture story. Unusually a little more sex and tackling the feelings of geeky guys & married couple (at the end, that was funny) was a great addition to the usual smooth & experienced connections made.

The series is now on my wishlist and I sincerely hope that audible ensure all these books are available.

Good easy listen with nice character relationships. Well narrated and well paced. Interesting story concept.

The story as a whole is quite unbelievable but don't let that stop you. The characters are all good and the sub story is interesting. The end seemed way to quick and too easy but the rest is well measured. The narrator does a terrible Asian accent but other than that it is very well narrated. I will buy another one of his books.

Mostly believable storyline with a bit of humor and lot of action. The core of the research issie is so easily avoidable, so that took out lot of the ”fun” of the story, but still an enjoyable listen.
