The Wolves of Crescent Creek trilogy comes to a gripping conclusion with Rising Reign as the story picks up immediately after the cliffhanger ending of the previous book with heroine Wren back in the hands of her brutal father and the Red River pack with Kingston and the Diablos pack planning her rescue. But getting her back is only the beginning. To ensure her safety and make sure she doesn’t spend the rest of her life on the run they’ll have to put a permanent end to the threat of her father and if that isn’t enough, the dark mages have uncovered her secret and are coming for her.

This has got to be my favourite trilogy to date from this author and a lot of that is down to the secondary characters who have been introduced. From the townspeople who welcomed Wren with open arms and have shown their readiness to help protect her especially Juan whose reaction after discovering their true natures was to confess a secret fantasy for Ariel, cue his disappointment on learning mermaids were a no no to the new paranormals including witch Hera, who really dislikes that term. But the star addition for me was the arrival of vampire Rhys and please oh please don’t let this be the last we hear of him, he stole every scene he appeared in and his interactions with Hera made me laugh, despite the darkness he exuded under the jokey persona. Back to Wren and her men where the only hold out to the mating bond was Ender, who although in love with Wren, was reluctant to take that final step but with their enemies at the door, they were rapidly running out of time.

After listening to this audiobook with full cast narration from Vanessa Moyen, Connor Crais, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton, and Shane East, I'm left wondering how I can go back to single narrator audiobooks. The full cast truly elevated my listening experience. Vanessa was perfectly cast as Wren, bringing depth and emotion to her portrayal while the male performers also delivered fantastic performances, each bringing their characters to life with all their unique nuances and personalities.
