About this listen

Mage Alex Verus has gone from a Camden shopkeeper to one of the most powerful mages in Britain. Now his last and most dangerous battle lies before him.

Alex's girlfriend, the life mage Anne, has fallen fully under the control of the deadly djinn she made a bargain with, and it is preparing to create an army of mages subject to its every whim. Alex, the Council, and the Dark mage Richard Drakh agree to call a truce in their war, and plans are made for a joint attack. Alex knows that it's only a matter of time before Drakh and the Council turn on each other...and neither cares about keeping Anne alive. Can Alex figure out a way to stop Anne and to free her from possession before time runs out for the people he loves?

I had been waiting for the end of this series, I’m happy to say it did not disappoint! Benedict Jacka should have wrote the end of game of thrones!! I look forward to whatever you write next a true master at your craft thank you for one of the best stories I have ever heard. Please work out a deal for film rights and some form of RPG game. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the best audiobook series bar none such a pleasure to listen to this book and this great series. Fabulous last book in keeping with the others keeping you on the edge of your seat until the very end!. Hopefully there can be a spin series of books as the story writing and storytelling have been first class. If you like or love magic you need to read this series.

Fabulous book

This is a fitting end to the series, and one that really had to come. Not because the series was going bad but because going further would just have been too much.

I always liked the narrator who’s voice was perfect for Alex. In this book he made an incredible amount of mistakes where he would use the wrong voice. This made it difficult to listen to certain passages when in dialogs sometimes Alexs voice was used also for parts of what others said.

Great conclusion but confused narrator

This was an excellent series. I started listening to three then having a break and listening to something else. Only did that after book 3 and 6. Once I got to book 9 I couldn’t wait to hear what happened next. Don’t want to give anything away but would definitely recommended. Series ended well and felt like it had finished - which isn’t the case with all series.

The narrator was perfect. Some voices did change as mentioned in other reviews but I think I only noticed this because I listened to the books one after another.
