About this listen

GCLS Goldie Award Winner for Best Contemporary Romance 2025

Lara Bennett is world-famous in Ribbonwood, population 907.

She's the woman you don't trust your husband with: a real-life femme fatale. If there's a scandal in town, she's at the center of it, ruining businesses, marriages, and egos everywhere she goes, with her sharp tongue and that body that makes you look twice. Besides… didn't she more or less kill a man?

Ollie Gabrielli left Ribbonwood right after high school, back when Lara was her arch-nemesis. The queen bee and the closeted soccer star: natural enemies. When she comes home for three months, it's to recover from burnout and spend time with her chaotic family, not to reconnect with old classmates. Only somehow, she can't seem to take her eyes off Lara. How did she only get hotter? And is she really everything they say she is?

Sometimes, there's a reason you should never try to go home.

The pros and cons of gossip and how it can be used as a weapon by both sides. Such a great idea and well told.

Great story

Okay never has the opening of a book made me SO mad! This book was a perfect summary of small town gossip and blame culture against women. In the first minute, a 17 year old girl is portrayed as the villain when a grown man leaves his wife to basically groom her, it later goes on about how she drove him to his death by making him wait years before she had a baby with him and then only paid attention to the baby and not him, driving him to drink and ultimately getting behind the wheel and having a car accident. I was hooked but livid about 70% of the time 😅. It explores the characters and you learn what actually happens, how she impacts other residents in the town, why people make assumptions, women supporting women and even a casual murder and police investigation from a dead body. I would absolutely recommend! Also yes lots of spice but the story is crazy so please go read.

Love/hate relationship with this crazy story!

A tender, emotionally layered story with strong characters and a beautifully written romance. Katherine Littrell’s narration adds warmth and depth, making it a truly immersive listen. Overall a touching and memorable audiobook.

I loved Ribbonwood! It made me laugh out loud so many times. Lots of great humour. Lara Bennet is complex and beautifully written. I was captivated from start to finish. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. Highly recommend!
