Summary

If you or someone you love has Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), the genetic condition that is passed down from one generation to the next, please keep reading. RP is not funny as it can be the cause of loss of vision, either in adults or children. Its effect on vision can be slow-moving or it can progress very quickly.

The author has been affected for over 30 years and understands the emotional toll this condition can have on the newly diagnosed. This book was written to shine a light on the humorous incidents that have happened (shared by the RP community), and hopefully help to educate the general public, friends, and loved ones on the humor that we see in our everyday lives. A vast majority of RP sufferers do not lose 100% of their vision.

Tasty anecdotes

I didn't know about the existence of the disease retinitis pigmentosa, or RP. It is transmitted by genes. I learned about the living conditions of the people concerned and how daily life can turn into a real merry-go-round. Hilarious and touching stories are told by many RP sufferers. Testimonials that lead to hilarious situations, such as not realizing they are talking to their reflection in the mirror, a plastic bag in the wind is seen as a dog that does not obey, or a basting brush unintentionally cooked under the pizza, because it was not found before cooking. I loved these tasty anecdotes.

Interesting and informative

This is very interesting as I've only heard of such condition as I read this book. What's also interesting is that the author combines it with humor. But she balances it well with providing useful information which educates anyone without knowledge of such medical condition. Certainly a must read!

Very informative

I love that the author has tackled this vision condition with humour as well as information. I found it very useful especially in dealing with an area that’s very sensitive to talk about, but done in a positive way.
