Summary

At first, stories of Cheater caused nothing but laughter and rolled eyes.

As the months went on, however, the tales became more terrific - and more terrifying. Now, Cheater the Lovestruck Loser has become Cheater the Lucky Legend. He never misses. He can never be held captive. And his luck never runs out.

In pursuit of his love, his inexorable progress eastward leaves a trail of story upon story and corpse upon corpse. Any enemy standing in his way is soon reduced to a stain of blood and black dust on Cheater’s boots. Only one crossing sits between him and his destination. Between him and his soulmate. He is anxious to complete his journey immediately, but his companions seem to stall at every opportunity.

Has he been wrong to trust them? Will they abandon or betray him before the end? For some, this perilous campaign will cost them their lives. For others, the cost may be greater still.

interesting read with great characters but.......

enjoyed the story loving how the characters have developed across the books but I was completely disheartened with the ending once I found out there were no further books. a disappointing finish to a great series.

Not the best but still good

I could not stop listening to the entire series but this book had something missing.
Or at least there was something off.
Still good but somewhat rushed.
The ending is good. It still does not touch on how or why they are there but I guess that is not the point.
And it seems this is the end of the road since this was written in 2020. Too bad but still a great series.

Love this series

The story had me highly invested in the main protagonist’s growth and journey. I found myself downloading the next edition before I had finished the last. Great series, definitely worth a listen.

Anticlimactic and Leaves More Questions!

For a series building up to a big final battle and finding The Macguffin, it all wraps up with a paragraph of deus ex machina, and in arms length of the Macguffin.
There's no explanation of the system, who our tabula rasa boi really is, what's been going on all this time, or who Kitty is.
I knew all along that this series would be about the journey, not the destination. But come on. The prologue could have at least been "and then the screensaver turned off" or "the gamblers turned away, some tutting as the character they had bet against achieved the unachievable" or "decades, maybe centuries of lives later, Kitty and Cheater had grown old, their bodies lasting only minutes after each respawn. Their counters matched. One. "What does this all mean? What's next?" Cheater asked, and red text flickered "You have asked the correct question" before fading away "You Win!" he blinked as the headset was removed "get out the machine gramps! Let someone else have a go!" someone complained "we've been waiting half an hour!"

We've gotten through 6 books and not a single one of the mysteries laid down at the start have been answered!

That being said, this also shows how much the series drew me in, that I'm now lamenting that this final chapter isn't so final.

Good book.

Recomend if you like Litrpg, with not too many numbers, different story and no base building.
