Story
Women are rarely cold-blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution. The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

Tightly written
Who's the baddie? Clare or Sharni? Who's not what they seem? This theme runs all through the book. Someone is definitely 'gaslighting' Clare, but is it Sharni? I'm not going to answer your questions, I'll just tell you that this is an absorbing story, full of suspense, which I very much recommend you buy and find out for yourself! You can thank me later!

If you like lifetime movies
Sort of cheesy but, like a lifetime movie, you’ll find you keep listening just to see how it turns out. It’s no great work of literature but some decent light listening. If liked this but are looking for something a little more interesting, I would highly recommend “You” by Kepnes (not for the squeamish) or for something more fast paced (by lifetime movie standards), I’d recommend “Bad Games” by Menapace.

One of these two women is crazy.
First part of the book is from Claire’s perspective. Claire and Chris live in a house with their 2 year old son, Ben. Shawnie and Tom buy the house next door. Shawnie becomes embedded in Claire and Chris’s life. Shawnie began to mimic Claire – her perfume, her clothes, her home décor. Shawnie starts keeping Ben two days a week while Claire works. Shawnie is in therepy. Claire suffers from anxiety. Claire becomes suspicious of Shawnie. She thinks Shawnie is having an affair with her husband and other negative thoughts. Other people don’t know whether to believe her or not. Things keep getting worse and worse – Shawnie is involved in episodes that make Claire look unbalanced.
The second part of the book is Shawnie’s point of view. She is purposely pushing Claire’s buttons. She hates her and thinks she has good reason to torment Claire. Things will come to a head. And boy what a surprise.
