Modern Vampire

If you like modern vampire stories then this one is worth a listen for that aspect. However, I didn't really warm to any of the characters which was a pity. The plot does trundle along though with twists along the way, so the story did keep my interest to the end. I would give 3.5 for the overall book score, rounded up to 4.

Different vampire story

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Vampires have decided they have wronged the human species and therefore has given their blood to help rid of some of the worst diseases and give humans extra life for all that has happened. Some agree to this both vampire and human and some do not. There are still vampires who think they are better and see humans that use their blood even lower than those that don’t. Definitely a very different type of vampire book just wished it was a tad longer.

I loved it!

I loved it! This is what a short story is supposed to be! The story was quick paced, exciting, and even ended with a twist!
The story was cerebral and made me think along with the main character. I enjoyed the attempt to mix science fiction with the supernatural. It gave the story a unique position to start from. I loved it! I was given (by my request) an audiobook copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

High Potential but falls flat

Overview: I had to give a day to let my thought settle before reviewing this one. Rejuvenation is a vampire story done in a very unique way. The premise is that one of the two types of vampires in the world have given their blood to science in order to help the human race. Fantastic idea! It’s done a lot of great things, helped cured diseases, and gives the mortals a ‘second chance of life’.
Humans, after they’ve reached old age are able to undergo the Rejuvenation process and pick life back up as if they were in their early twenties. Not going to lie, I am so down with that processes. I’d love to have a second chance at a young life, even if you only get to do it over once.

Characters: Here’s where we get down to the nitty-gritty. I didn’t like the main character at all. I could not stand her. She lived to be an old woman and comes back as a complete naive fool. Every other character actually seemed to have a personality and more than one brain cell. However, the last bit of the book killed that. Blake ends up not growing or changing but abruptly not being himself at all just to suit the main character better.
The main character didn’t even stick to her goals or reasonably change them. Things got a little tough so she gave up. No development what so ever.

Setting: The setting actually sounded pretty neat. A futuristic London with vampire sections of the city. Things were advance thanks to the vampire blood. Having the second chance at life (if you decided to undergo Rejuvenation) meant a lot of things had to change in the world, and it was such a fun concept.

Style: The author's style is very beginner. I honestly love first person stories but the author seemed to be afraid to stray away from “I” as a sentence starter and used a lot of he says/ he said. Yes, both, showing that they did not stick to one tense throughout the book. There was an overabundance of simple sentences making sections almost painful to get through.
No favorite lines or characters.
Not wanting a sequel at this time. If redone down the line, maybe though! There are some great ideas here not fully realized.

Interesting book. Would recommend.

The story was interesting and kept my attention. I want to read book 2 in the series after this to see what happens.
PROS: Interesting story, different premise, actually kept my attention.
CONS: Some of the sex in the book would be better described as rape. Sex is consentual. The recording is not the highest quality also.

A Vampire Story

Rejuvenation by Marion Tucker is a different spin on a vampire story that I listened to on audio narrated by Rebecca McKernan. The story kept me engaged. I enjoyed the spin where you usually hear how werewolves imprint on a mate, but in this case the vampire did. I liked that the story did not end on a cliffhanger but did leave it open if the author chooses to make a second book. I really liked Rebecca’s voice. However, it was hard to determine each character since she did not change the tone for them. I look forward to listening to future projects by Marion and Rebecca. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys vampires and dark romances.
