Absolutely LOVED this audiobook. I felt like I’d been whisked back in time. Amie Mcnee paints such a vivid picture of a real Tudor life. She weaves in such fascinating details; it doesn’t feel abstract, you can feel, smell, taste and hear it.

I utterly loved Maude and feel such warmth for Hilde, Zita and Rufus; every time I pressed play felt like coming home to friends. I laughed out loud so many times and was sad but satisfied when it finished.

100% recommend!

I have been following Amie for a little while and listening to her book to inspire creativity. It’s really shifted something in me and I will be forever grateful. I wanted to hear her creative work, I have a passion for historical novels anyway but wow! Her performance is incredible and the story is captivating, the characters are so believable and leave you rooting for each one. It ended rather suddenly and I’m hungry for more! Well down Aime and thank you so much you are an inspiration

Maudlin is not an easy character to like. She’s arrogant, selfish and self absorbed. However, through some trials she steps into her power and life changes irrevocably. I loved the characters and their journeys. It’s a beautifully written book that I couldn’t help but devour at every opportunity.

I LOVED this audiobook, Aimee reads it so well and it’s really very entertaining throughout. It’s pacy and funny with some very relatable characters and plot twists . I completely binged the second half - and loved the relationship that blossomed between her and Rufus.
