About this listen

Steve Brown joined the army in 1993 as a troubled teenager and left as a respected sergeant-major in 2020. After passing the gruelling Parachute Regiment recruit process and selection for the elite Pathfinder Platoon he travelled the world, deployed on multiple operations, and pushed himself beyond breaking point, both physically and mentally. His story provides a unique insight into Britain's elite airborne forces, including their training, ethos, and indomitable mindset.

From desert to Arctic, jungle to delta, urban to rural, he's experienced some of the most hostile places on Earth. This autobiography covers the extreme highs and lows of a veteran's life with tales of humour, humility, hardship, and heroics.

Being ex 2 Para myself from the late 80s and leaving in 92 when Steve joined .. I had also completed UKSF selection for 23 SAS in the late 1990s and I could relate to most of the tests on the hills an continuation training .. so was really a blast from the past .. great read

Regimental by Steve Brown is an exceptional audiobook that captures the essence of military life at the elite level. The author takes us through his journey of enlisting in the army, the rigorous training, and the camaraderie that comes with being part of an elite regiment on the frontier. Narrated by Steve himself he does an outstanding job of bringing the story to life with his rich and engaging voice.

What I appreciate most about this audiobook is the honesty with which Steve Brown shares his experiences. He doesn't shy away from the challenges he faced, both physical and mental. His account of dealing with PTSD after returning from war is particularly poignant. Steve's writing style is simple but effective, making it easy to follow his story and connect with his emotions.

Regimental is not just a memoir of Steve's experiences, but a testament to the bravery and sacrifice of all men and women who serve their country. It is a must-listen for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be an elite soldier. Overall, I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoys military history, memoirs, or simply great storytelling from a bloke who has been there and done it.
