Summary

When 18-year-old Rebecca Adams spends the summer as the guest of a respected noblewoman, her promiscuity quickly becomes problematic for her host. In the hopes of avoiding an embarrassing public incident, the services of Dr. Reginald Brown are called upon, and the esteemed physician wastes no time in conducting an intimate, humiliating examination to determine the appropriate course of treatment for Rebecca's wanton behavior.

Upon completion of his examination, Dr. Brown concludes that the headstrong girl is in urgent need of firm correction, and to Rebecca's shock the man chosen for the task is James Oakes, an up-and-coming member of the household staff. In spite of her shame and indignation at being stripped bare and spanked soundly by a common footman, James' stern dominance leaves Rebecca quivering with desire, and when he claims her hard and thoroughly it is better than anything she has experienced before. But will he prove up to the task of mastering her properly?

Publisher's Note: Reforming Rebecca is the seventh book of the Victorian Correction series. The books of the Victorian Correction series are stand-alone works which can be listened to in any order. Excellent Audible book and story

The narrator brings this book to life. He easily flows from one female or male voice to another.

This book takes place in an era that considers women property of men. This book has spankings, friendship, betrayal, kinky sex, and a feeling of love between the two main characters.
I received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I did enjoy this book and found it hard to put down. I felt it contained excellent character development that left me wanting more of Rebecca's story but not letting me feel like too much was left unanswered.

Surprisingly raunchy

This story delivers more on the BDSM than the romance angle, though the cover doesn't betray how explicit it is. I wished the author had made more of a point to distinguish why Rebecca's punishment scene (a brutal whipping in mixed company) differs from the punishments doled out by her "natural man" lover... while the eroticism is well-illustrated, it appears that neither of them is particularly consensual at the beginning.

The narrator was the best part of the story for me. His cadence and tonality was very pleasant, and he had a variety of accents and subtle distinctions between characters that really worked.

3.5 Stars...Sexuality and Class Distinction in Victorian Times

18 year old Rebecca is a ‘natural’ daughter, in others words born out of wedlock, but her father is a duke which gives her higher class distinction. She and her friend, also a natural daughter, are becoming curious about sex and her friend has observed a newlywed couple. This spikes their curiosity...they are a mixture of anxious to become knowledgable themselves and ignorant.
There is society which believes in ‘natural’ men do s and natural women subs.
The story is Rebecca’s journey and her dom and the society, class distinction....the treatment of women..the bizarre ideas that fluctuate as to good behavior and bad.. makes me wonder if or what part is true history
My reaction to it jumps around..parts I just don’t get..something shared at the very end of the book which is a part I always have trouble with.
Narrator had a perfect voice, timing and fit the story well.

Highly erotic story of Victorian times.......

Reforming Rebecca tells the story of 18 year-old Rebecca discovering the pleasures of the body during very uptight Victorian times. The story revolves around a society espousing the ideal of a natural man (the dominant) disciplining and controlling young women of a promiscuous nature (the submissive). This book is highly explicit in both sex scenes and BDSM scenes between Rebecca and James, the man chosen to be Rebecca's master and husband. Although I enjoy erotica and romance, this story felt a little too clinical and the sex too methodical. The author did a good job of painting Rebecca as a typical teenager wanting to explore her sexuality, a trait which possibly wasn't so typical in Victorian times. I could also feel James's sense of personal and professional honor as well as his feeling of responsibility towards Rebecca. However, I never felt any actually feelings of love or even warmth between James and Rebecca.

The narration was the most enjoyable part of this production. Martin Royal speaks with a beautiful British accent, and he does a great job of differentiating between the male and female characters. His voice is perfectly suited towards a book about Victorian times.
