Summary

Lauren Voss has a nice, quiet, orderly life running her grandmother’s Heron Bay Resort on the Texas coast. Three years removed from a break-up that left her ex - and her life - behind in San Diego, she’s adjusted to the slow pace in Rockport, seeking out neither new friends nor lovers. Vandalism at the resort’s clubhouse - and a cryptic message written in blood - brings Detective Harley Shepherd, with her obnoxious Hawaiian shirts, into her life.

A tragedy sent Harley Shepherd running to the sleepy fishing village of Rockport, where violent crime is rare. So different from her life as a homicide detective in a large city, she embraced the quiet and easy-going attitude of the town, determined to put her past behind her.

Was it luck or fate that had her catch a case of simple vandalism? The lovely Lauren Voss made no attempt to hide her dislike of both her - she reminded Lauren of her ex - and her Hawaiian shirts.

Was the vandalism a prank, as Lauren suspects? When a body is found floating near the resort’s pier, Harley is convinced it’s related. As the formality and animosity between them changes and a friendship forms, the women find themselves growing closer as a killer terrorizes the peaceful town they both now call home.

Eh.

Abby Craden was a pro as usual and the writing is the dependable high caliber you’d expect from Gerri. But the two leads were kind of uninspiring and had zero chemistry. The lone sex scene is generic and tame. I found the thriller plot-line to be lackluster, especially in comparison to some of her better thrillers such as “The Killing Room” and the “Keepers of the Cave” series. It wasn’t bad, but I don’t think this is one I’ll be re-listening to.

Love Hill and Craden!

This was a great listen with romance and suspense as usual with Gerri Hill. This isn't my favorite by this author, but seriously she has so many 5 star books it isn't an insult to say this isn't the best by Hill. I LOVED her audiobook " the Target" and so many others. This book was still amazing. Wished the cop didn't have a southern accent, but as far as a drawl goes, Craden can make it sweet and sexy somehow. Loved the action/suspense. I was anxious the last hour ha

Wow

I have never met a book written by Gerri Hill and narrated by abby Crade, that I didn’t love, and this one is not different. I loved it. The suspension made listening to this book wonderful. The characters are love able and believable.

One of her best works

Abby Craden was meant to read Gerri Hill's books. However, I caught myself not overly liking the accent for the main character. But I Loved the book & cant wait to get it in paper form too.
