About this listen

When Muslim fundamentalists blow up a key Soviet oil complex, making an already critical oil shortage calamitous, the Russians figure they are going to have to take things into their own hands. They plan to seize the Persian Gulf, and more ambitiously, to neutralize NATO. Thus begins Red Storm, an audacious gamble that uses diplomatic maneuver to cloak a crash military build-up. When Soviet tanks begin to roll, the West is caught off guard. What looks like a thrust turns into an all-out shooting war, possibly the climactic battle for control of the globe. Read this originally in the early 90s in hardback. A delight to listen to it again, and it was just as good the second time.
Well worth a read if you ever fancy reading about what may so easily have come to pass...

Excellent storyline, with good detail

I can’t remember the number of times I have listened to this book. I read it 3 times before getting the audio version.
If you have read any Tom Clancy book you will know how immaculately researched and written books are. The audio version is told immaculately by Michael Pritchard. I have just finished listening to the book again and I am already looking forward to listening again in the future.

A classic that defies the passage of time.

I read the paperback years ago and was impressed with Mr. Clancy?s knowledge of military and technical matters and the way he tells a good yarn, managing to seamlessly weave multiple sub-plots in to the story.
I was delighted to see this book on Audible so downloaded it immediately - I was not disappointed! Very long and excellent value for money!
Only one criticism, for some reason, the narrator Mr. Prichard does have a problem pronouncing vehicle, perhaps its an American thing but ?Vee-ickle? does grate after a while?.! Highly enjoyable and recommended, but one for the boys I think.

Toys for the Boys!

I originally read this book years ago and decided to listen to the audio version with some trepidation. However, I shouldn't have been worried, it was brill! I loved the narration which bring the characters to life. The story was just as good as I remembered jumping from one location to another just when you wanted to find out what was going to happen next. I'm now looking forward to reaquainting myself with more stories from my paper library.

Better than I remembered.

I've always been a fan of Tom Clancy and he doesn't disappoint here. The narrative draws you in and you a quite imagine the events unfolding present day. A master of the modern day warfare thriller Tom Clancy doesn't disappoint.
