A grieving woman finds healing and purpose through her late grandmother’s cherished recipes in a poignant and hopeful novel about rediscovering the comfort of family in the most trying of times.
Belle Sutton is a little lost these days.
She has a stalled career, a New York apartment she can’t afford, and her sister, Lexie, is more estranged with each passing year. Belle’s one true consolation is her beloved grandmother, who’s powered through her own broken family ties with a tenacious zest for life and a passion for cooking. But when her grandmother suddenly passes away, a grieving Belle feels her only connection to the past is gone forever.
That’s when Belle receives a series of letters, along with a cookbook, photographs of Belle and Lexie when they were young and happy, and her grandmother’s last wish that the sisters mend severed ties before it’s too late. For the love of Gran, a challenge is met that sets Belle and Lexie on a journey of hope, reconciliation, surprising discoveries, and the nourishing power of family, forgiveness, and tradition. All they have to do is follow the directions.

I have read this late after release date.
I am listening to the audiobbok on audible and the narrator is doing q great job at bringing the story to life, within an hour of starting this book I felt like I could relate to the character in some ways where I am in my life at present.
I am personally in a time of isolation away from things because of depression and other life issues that happened early last year from something that was major, seeing a character who is in a place of her own emotional and mental distress made me care for how the story goes.
I love the grandmother she has giving small gems of information to help her without being to forceful about it is lovely, yet I will not lie that when she passed away in her sleep I had some tears.
I love when she was given a talk by one of grandmothers friends....
welcome to the grief club you are now officially a member and there are arms open from people who understand
( The part that spoke to me the most was when this was said:- ignore the ones who say your get over it because their lying, what you do is carry grief with you always and forever & your find the weight becomes less to bare but it will stay with you. With time what will happen is happy memories will come forward and help to lessen griefs load and what you have to do is the ones who love you be there for you. )
This part spoke to me so much in my own personal way....
Letters are sent to the out main character & her sister each week for them to make a recipe of their childhood as a way to bring them both together in a small way, to me this was their grandmother saying life is hard & will get to you yet remember who you where together growing up & see each other beyound your differences.... also our main character trying to find herself beyound the problems and live life, and she meers a guy who she forms a connection with.
I loved listening to the audiobook so much and is definitely a book I plan to buy for myself to own.
I could relate to the sisters life issues alot
If you enjoy stories that come across with a deep meaning about grieving not only loved ones but also a life that you felt a stranger in until you formed a way to find urself, then I suggest this book
a book that hit me emotionally
