Summary

One of the start-up world’s most in-demand executive coaches - hailed as the “CEO Whisperer” (Gimlet Media) - reveals why radical self-inquiry is critical to professional success and healthy relationships in all realms of life.

Jerry Colonna helps start-up CEOs make peace with their demons, the psychological habits and behavioral patterns that have helped them to succeed - molding them into highly accomplished individuals - yet have been detrimental to their relationships and ultimate well-being. Now, this venture capitalist turned executive coach shares his unusual yet highly effective blend of Buddhism, Jungian therapy, and entrepreneurial straight talk to help leaders overcome their own psychological traumas. Reboot is a journey of radical self-inquiry, helping you to reset your life by sorting through the emotional baggage that is holding you back professionally and, even more important, in your relationships.

Jerry has taught CEOs and their top teams to realize their potential by using the raw material of their lives to find meaning, to build healthy interpersonal bonds, and to become more compassionate and bold leaders. In Reboot, he inspires everyone to hold themselves responsible for their choices and for the possibility of truly achieving their dreams.

Work does not have to destroy us. Work can be the way in which we achieve our fullest self, Jerry firmly believes. What we need, sometimes, is a chance to reset our goals and to reconnect with our deepest selves and with each other. Reboot moves and empowers us to begin this journey.

Mixed Emotions

A book that sits on 2 shelfs... Business and Autobiograpgical, which is no doubt why I had mixed emotions on its value. The whispering delivery undermined some of the impact of the words. Overall an enjoyable listen and thank you for the intro to Padraig O Tuama and Parker J Parker.

Sort out your unsorted baggage

Jerry demonstrates how the bits of our past that haven’t been dealt with play themselves out in our present.
Jerry teaches for us to be the best leaders we must be the best person we can be. To be the best person we can be we must fully open our hearts.

Wonderfully wise and heartwarming

This is a book for everyone.. whether you are the CEO of a multi-million corporation or you simply want to be a better CEO of your own life. Jerry Colonna is a wise storyteller and a skillful coach. In his wonderful narration of this book, he demonstrates what it means to show up with open heart and strong back. His love of poetry enriches this book. I highly recommend it.

A little more flesh please

I love Jerry and his work, and was looking forward to his book.
In some ways this was more autobiographical than leadership-teaching. I enjoyed the stories (his and of others) but would have appreciated more flesh in how we take those teachings and to personalize them.
The end-chapter questions felt more of an afterthought, and I think there would be great value in talking more about the questions, false paths, instinctive answers, etc.
Still very enjoyable, I just feel it could have been more.

Reboot gets to your soul

I have been looking for an insight like this ever since I started my journey of self awareness and acceptance. This resonated with me so much that it is enabling me to be a better leader and person. Can’t recommend it more highly, particularly those that are leading companies and people. Thanks Jerry

Awful

The self indulging author goes far too deep into each little anecdote. feels like a blog post or two padded out to stretch to a book. All I took from this was the regret that I started it and felt the need to finish. If it was printed, it would not be worthy of wiping ones hole with.

Couldn’t bear the audio

It’s as if you’re a child. The whispering voice is so wet and wimpy. I couldn’t stand it. I think I’ll read it instead.
