About this listen

Number one Sunday Times Bestseller

Best-selling author Tom Bower reveals the making of a monarch – King Charles III

King Charles faces many challenges as he succeeds his mother to the throne. Despite his hard work and genuine concern for the disadvantaged, King Charles III has struggled in the past to overcome his unpopularity. After Diana’s death, his approval rating crashed to 4% and has been only rescued by his marriage to Camilla.

In unearthing many secrets and dramas surrounding King Charles, Bower’s book, relies on the testimony from over 120 people employed or welcomed into the inner sanctum. The result is a book which uniquely probes the character and court of Charles that no one, until now, has seen. It offers an unrivalled and intimate look at King Charles, his many years as heir and how a monarch was made.

I have in the past been a supporter of the British Monarchy. Now having listened to this informative biography I'm appalled by the despicable aspects of Charles' and his bone idle wife's character and those of their sycophantic minions. It seems that treachery abounds on all sides. In spite of a late purported turnaround I believe that they are really without moral compass.... and that Charles is a traitor to his country, people and faith. I seriously fear for the UK under his rule. Wishing that Wills would inherit the throne instead and be a good king.

Really enjoyed it . Though quite concerned about the company he keeps for charity donations

Very Enlightening

Well presented, and easy to listen to Peter Noble's voice. I couldn't help wondering if I knew anybody who would have made a better job of it - being a modern Prince of Wales. Nor why we are so naive as to think that our leaders will not have our own faults in Spades! Annonimity or Princeling? I know which I would choose. But then neither have a choice!
We should remember when we point a finger at another, that we have three pointing back at us.

Facinating

This makes clear what is really wrong with this family. Everyone thinks the queen is a great monarch - which she is without parallel. But she has not been able to get the rest of the family to be honest, honourable or even decent. It begins to ask the question in regard to the position where people in this country think it is a democracy even though of the 1600 legislators in the Palace of Sexminster, more than 900 unelected are in the house of lords - and over 90% have been appointed over the last 25 years on a system that in any other country would be viewed by us as perverted, dishonest, dishonourable and crooked.
The princes so far involve a Tampax muncher, friend of sexual perverts, Nazi-cross dresser who thinks bombing innocent inhabitants from 40,00 ft was terribly brave - like playing a sony play station which he has done for thousands of hours. And an unadmired tv producer - Edward on its a royal knock out should certainly work for CNN in some zone like syria to add British culture. The idea the UK has anything to tearch the world about morals is truly bizarre - though I am sure Blo Jo(b) will gets lots of troops to go and kill people in Hong Kong and Myanmar.Does anyone really think he will let the guys from Hong Kong in - not unless they go to Eton and Awxford or do wall paper hanging
And Tom Bower's book gives a very good history how we got here - or at least some true information.

Very kind to a megalomaniac

Well researched and written and equally well narrated. Our future king appears to be addicted to life's luxuries, whilst preaching self-control to the rest of us.

Shocking portrait of the future king
