In 2023 after the trial it was obvious she was guilty, or so everyone thought. But revelations since made me aware of some of the problems with the conviction. This book blows the prosecution case out of the water. Frightening really.
In many ways bigger than the Post Office MoJ. Exoneration can't come soon enough.

This book is incredibly well researched, well written and well narrated. I can’t say I enjoyed it perse , but it answered so many questions I had had about this trial and its outcomes.
That some say Lucy had a fair trial is astonishing, both the way it was investigated, the way Evan’s interpreted the evidence he thought he has seen, her defence who did not engage professionals to give an alternative answer, the whole litany of disasters which had led to the biggest disaster of all, a huge miscarriage of justice for Lucy.
Christopher Morris has gone to lengths to ensure that this book has been well researched and it is well worth a read, it doesn’t matter what your current stance is, read this account and decide if you have any doubt at all on guilt, ask yourself has the case been proved beyond resonable doubt? If it hasn’t then Lucy deserves a fair trial , this could happen to anyone , you, your family members someone you may know, wouldn’t you want them to have a safe trial?

A well structured and thoroughly researched book. After listening I had a complex response; deeply saddened for Lucy and also for the implications for us all.
How could someone like LL, who from all evidence was an excellent and conscientious nurse, wishing to do her job well, still have been put through such a process?
We see how under funded services and institutions, also without intelligent leadership; can come together to focus on one person as a ‘reason’ or ‘rationale’.
I found myself curious as to what it was about Lucy, maybe her diligence, that rubbed the consultants ‘up the wrong way’? I wondered if her exemplary nursing ability shone the light on their poor practice? We may never know. Surely this case must go back to the Court of appeal.
The outcome of this will have far reaching consequences for society and be referred to in our newspapers for decades to come.
As for Lucy I worry about her recovery. She will never be the person she was. No doubt those who support her will financially help her too and fight for compensation. Still, a truly dreadful crime has been committed to her and what a waste of her young and purposeful life.
I wonder how nurses feel about what has happened and how this impacts their professional confidence. I have anecdotally heard that NHS nurses in Brighton and Hove are expressing concern as to their safety to practice.
