Is it so hard to get his name right
Regarding the James Bulger episode
if the author had done the most basic research, he would have learned how upsetting it is for the family to hear his name incorrectly used. he was called James not Jamie. if you are going to titillate a story for profit, put a bit of effort in. disrespectful and offensive.

So chilling!
I binged this series really quickly. I listen to a lot of true crime and these episodes were really compelling, containing real audio from 999 calls and other great material. Not for the faint-hearted!

Sadness is guaranteed :(
I’m not usually interested in listening to real crime and I seldom watch the News either, as it is always so depressing. Though after enjoying ‘West Cork’, another real crime documentary, which I originally thought was going to be a fictional audio-drama decided to give ‘Real Crime’ a try. It’s free so can always delete it after a few minutes, but I didn’t.
There’s ten episodes and they are all really well produced by ITN:
01. The Philpotts
02. The Story of Louise Woodward
03. Playing with My Killer
04. The Jamie Bulger Story
05. The Story of Raoul Moat
06. The Bus Stop Rapist
07. The Hungerford Massacre
08. Sarah Payne’s Killer
09. The Ipswich Murders
10. The Wimbledon Common Killer
As you can see none of the episodes are going to be uplifting or happy, sadness is guaranteed so best make sure you are in the right frame of mind beforehand.
FAO Audible: I’m confused, in the narrative it says: “from the murderous marriage of Fred and Rose West to Jamie Bulger's killers”. Though there isn’t an episode on Fred and Rose West, where's it gone?

Gripping and brilliantly told
Bite sized episodes made my commute much less boring! Loved it.
Shame it was only 10 episodes!
I didn't manage to listen to Jamie Bulger episode as it was very upsetting to hear. All the others I really enjoyed.

Unforgettable - not in a good way
This is a professionally made audio program describing events surrounding and the incident of each crime. The case is well detailed and the actual audio clips do an excellent job of making the events feel real and current.
Personally, I prefer to read (listen to) fiction, because I've never heard of many of these cases - as they're all from the UK and I am not - and they really remind the listener how awful humans are to each other.
The voice acting and narration are perfect. It feels like you're listening to a news documentary.
Theoretically, providing these stories will help prevent future crimes of this nature through increasing awareness.
This incident in particular stopped me from continuing to listen to the series. I can't subject myself to more stories about harming and murdering children. The warnings before the program begins should be taken seriously. Hearing the actual confession from a ten year old admitting to murdering a two year old is not something I expect I will forget.

Hate the Sound Effects and music.
I download books to hear them read. Not for theatrical embellishment. It is distracting and unnecessary to have music in the background and sound effects. It is really irritating having more noise. If I am reading a book I do not turn on the radio or tv. I am looking for a peaceful experience not more noise.

Outstanding British Crime Series
This is a superb series about several crimes which challenged how the British view crime and punishment. Sadly, we in the US are all to familiar with several of these. These cases shocked and horrified that country. Hear what happened and the changes made. Riveting.

A unique kind of audiobook
This is not a usual audiobook, as this is about real events of crimes. The way this was told is amazing. Interesting! Plus the added background music adds some touch to the audiobook!

NOT for the faint of heart
An inside look into the true crimes of some horrific crimes with details and actual footage from real crime scenes of people involved. Some are difficult to understand but others are bone chilling as you hear in the killers/rapists (or what have you depending on the case)own words what happened or even a massacre while happening.
I kept hearing comments like this doesn't happen, community gripped by fear, not equipped to handle this sort of event, had to change our laws because of this, couldn't do anything but hide because help was over an hour away so people those that knew what was happening and could get away tried to hide, we were no match, etc......
1st, I don't know how the law enforcement agencies exactly work there as I do not reside there. 2nd, our crime rate is rampant and crimes atrocious so I am not saying our system is any better. What I am saying is I don't understand how the officers are expected to handle some of these situations without training and a firearm. I don't care for guns myself but do believe there is a time and place and in certain situations they save lives instead of taking them. As you listen, you will hear one story in particular of a man shooting ANYONE in his path! Neighbors, children, couples out for exercise, animals, a lady in her own home in a wheelchair and others..... all while the police were there. 😪 This carnage didn't need to happen in my eyes.
It was an amazing eye opener I believe for many which I feel is important. Often people live in denial and that the world is all good and nothing will ever happen and let their guard down when in fact it could be lingering right in your very neighborhood if you don't pay attention.
