Summary

Born into wealth and privilege, free-spirited Liv Prescott left it all behind when she realized there was more to life than living off of trust funds and barely skating by. Since then, she's worked and fought for everything she's earned and never looked back at the world or the family she left behind.

Jackson Reid is starting over with a new job in a brand new city. A single father to his son Noah, he hopes the change will help strengthen the bond that has seemed to suffer since puberty reared its ugly head. What he hadn't planned on was Liv - his exotic next-door neighbor who drives him insane with her wild, new age lifestyle, but still manages to leave him aching for more.

As challenges arise and feelings intensify, will these neighbors be able to look past their differences and find a middle ground? When love comes knocking, will they be ready, or not?

Lovely story

A sweet slow burn romance. Easy enjoyable read. I cannot imagine a mother like Noah's mum. She is one piece of work. Love the ending.

Least favorite of series

Female reader sounded robotic. Difficult to enjoy story. I would rather have heard the entire story by the male reader.

Actually... 0.5. Painful!

What disappointed you about Ready or Not?

It was sooooooo Predictable... There was no exciting story line. Just a girl with daddy issues and a single dad who somehow "got her". I gave up with 2 hours to go on the story. I just couldn't waste my time listening to it anymore.

What was most disappointing about J.L. Berg’s story?

See above.

What didn’t you like about Craig Jessen and Laura Jennings ’s performance?

I liked Craig Jessen's voice and the souther drawl but he read WAY TOO SLOW! On the flip side, Laura Jennings read too fast. I found myself constantly adjusting the play speed so that it would be a bit more tolerable to listen to. Also, Laura did a horrible job with the steamy scenes.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Ready or Not?

I'm not sure. So many of the scenes were just dumb. There were times when Olivia would get upset about something really stupid and I'd find myself feeling like I missed something. Talk about drowning in a cut of water. Sheesh...

Loved this series! Felt all them feels!

this was my first experience with this author. she is awesome. about to start another series by her. the male narrator was dreamy. the female was inconsistent. sometimes she was fine, other times forced and robotic.

Only made it an hour into this book

Liv was a whiney character who seems none to stable, emotionally. What kind of psychotherapist would call someone (her new neighbor) "crazy?" Her bizarre overreaction to the flower beds being walked on by movers was off-putting. They weren't even on her property! I found myself rooting for Jackson to flee far away.

Quintessential romance

Such a sweet romance. I wasn’t enamored by either narrator, but I liked the storyline so I continued. The hero was perfection and just what I needed to hear when he made all the right choices that we wish for IRL. The heroine was not weak or indecisive, troubled by her past for sure, but strong and moves forward.

Good Series

While I LOVED the first 2 books of the series.... the 3rd was far too full of unnecessary over the top angst, it was frustrating. This one, the 4th, wasn't as bad, but the female lead was again over the top frustrating. Thank God the male character had some sense and a spine. It saved it for me. Happy to see all these friends find their HEA.

Are you ready

Ready by J L Berg is very much a warm, heart filled series bringing families back together after major disagreements and misunderstandings, abuse, and deaths. Add twists, turns, tumultuous happenings. Berg developed the protagonists and in depth emotions of each character tying them all together for more laughs and excitement and love.
I highly recommend to bring joy, laughter and happiness!

Some parts okay, horrid narration.

I have listened to the entire series and honestly this one was a bit of a let down. The other stories had much bigger plot twists, and a little less predictability. The female narrator did not sound anything like she was from Virginia, and the male narrator's horrible phony accent is honestly insulting to a true southerner. He needs to take it down a notch, even old southern folks with money don't sound that idiotic.

As a whole, the story wasn't terrible, but it could have been much better. It just felt lacking in suspense and genuine feelings. The best part for me was the connection between Liv and Noah.

J.L Berg did it again…Loved it.

As always J.L Berg’s story is very captivating, sexy as “heck” with a tinge of humor. Using male and female narrators gives that special effect to tie the story together from each character’s perspective. The only thing that I didn’t like was that Laura Jennings impression of Olivia’s voice made her sound old, like a grandma instead of a young woman. Craig on the other hand, was amazing!! That sexy southern drawl made me feel like I was listening to Mathew McConaughey the whole time. I LOVE IT !!!
