About this listen

Honor brought him home. Love pulled him back into the fire.

Zack "Razor" Reston has spent over two decades as a Navy SEAL, facing life-and-death missions with stoic bravery. But retirement hits harder than any battlefield, as Razor struggles with PTSD, the loss of his father, and the crushing weight of a lonely life on his family’s Texas ranch. Haunted by mistakes and plagued by regrets, Razor numbs his pain with alcohol and fleeting distractions until a chance trip with an old SEAL buddy reignites a fire inside him.

Determined to right his past wrongs, Razor sets his sights on Eve, the woman he let go but never forgot. However, when he finds her again, she’s no longer the strong, independent woman he remembers. She’s trapped in a dangerous relationship, and her very life hangs in the balance.

What begins as a mission of redemption quickly turns into a fight for survival as Razor uncovers dark secrets and sinister forces threatening Eve’s safety. With the help of his trusted friend and a surprising ally, Razor is thrust into a deadly confrontation where every second counts. As the danger escalates, so does his resolve to save the woman he loves and to finally confront the demons that have plagued him for so long.

A gripping tale of love, resilience, and the enduring scars of war, this story will keep your heart racing until the very last second.

This is a very engaging and thought-provoking story. I always find it deeply emotional to read about the struggles faced by those who fight for their country, even in fictional settings. Their sacrifices and inner battles really stay with you long after you finish reading. The story also touches on spousal abuse, which is difficult but important to confront, and it adds another heavy layer to the narrative. I would definitely recommend this to readers who appreciate emotionally complex and challenging stories.

A thought-provoking story.

I enjoyed this book but I cannot say that it was an easy book to listen to. Despite that, it was tough to pause the story in between as well. This book touches on so many issues including mebtal health, PTSD, domestic violence, alcoholism and more. I loved how Razor and Eve's romance was charged and undeniable but not central to the story. These two characters certainly went through the wringer. That said, hold on to the face that they do have a happily ever after and it is absolutely well deserved.

The quality of the narration is good. Dave Young did a good job of giving voice to the characters and circumstances they found themselves in.
