Summary

Rose Howard has OCD, Asperger's syndrome, and an obsession with homonyms (even her name is a homonym). She gave her dog Rain a name with two homonyms (Reign, Rein), which, according to Rose's rules of homonyms, is very special. Rain was a lost dog Rose's father brought home. Rose and Rain are practically inseparable. And they are often home alone, as Rose's father spends most evenings at a bar, and doesn't have much patience for his special-needs daughter.

Just as a storm hits town, Rain goes missing. Rose's father shouldn't have let Rain out. Now Rose has to find her dog, even if it means leaving her routines and safe places to search. Rose will find Rain, but so will Rain's original owners.

Hearts will break and spirits will soar for this powerful story, brilliantly told from Rose's point of view.

Beautiful; touched my heart; made me cry!

The stated age range for the book is 11 to 13, an age I last saw 60 years ago. I shall strongly recommend this marvelous book to my six grandchildren, my wife, our three adult children and their spouses. Rain Reign made my mood soar as it broke my heart.

10 year old fifth grader Rose Howard is autistic, but extremely high functioning. She has aspects of Asperger's Syndrome and obsessive compulsive disorder. She also has a heart of gold. Rose lives with her father with no mother present. The most important person in her life is really her father's brother (her uncle).

Rose is a rule follower in the extreme. That got he thrown off the school bus when she yelled "STOP!" to the bus driver when the driver failed to use a turn signal. She also enforces rules in her classroom.

Rose is absolutely obsessed with homophones and homonyms; finding a new pair, triple, or especially quadruple homophones to add to her carefully kept list is a major joy for her. She is also obsessed with prime numbers. When she gets upset she starts verbally listing prime numbers, "two, five, seven, eleven, seventeen.."

There is so much to this wonderful story, but for the sake of the reader/listener I will not reveal additional details. So I'll just say that listening to Rain Reign enriched my life as it brought tears flowing down my face.

The book is wonderful and the audiobook narration is perfect. I look forward to listening to it again. Rain Reign is so meaningful at so many levels.

Of the more than 1,000 books in my Audible library Rain Reign is the one book I shall cherish above all others.

Tears - tiers

A beautiful story and narration. Rose became so endearing to me. I will always think of her and this story when I come upon a homonym.

Get This Sweet Book Tout de Suite

Was not expecting this audiobook to be so good, especially since it was geared mor toward a younger audience. The story dealt with some sensitive issues including the loss of a parent as well as a pet, abandonment, alcoholism, being a ten-year-old girl with Asberger Syndrome needing to follow The rules and regularly getting teased at school, and the fragile relationship between dad and daughter. The story definitely brought tears to my eyes. The only negative part about listening to the audiobook would have to be that since Rose constantly refers to finding and listing new homonyms, it was pretty confusing plus annoying when the narrator would actually spell out every single one of them.it took away from the pacing of the story. L.H. did a wonderfu job

I wasn't ready for it to end.

A poignantly sweet story with high morality on so many levels. The author shows insight into ordinary people and a real understanding of those of us with special abilities
