Summary
A special 25th anniversary edition narrated by the author.
Discover the deliciously dark and fantastically funny number one best seller about a woman living life rather too well and being whisked away from it all, from the number one best-selling author of Grown Ups.
'How did it end up like this? Twenty-seven, unemployed, mistaken for a drug addict, in a treatment centre in the back arse of nowhere with an empty Valium bottle in my knickers....'
Meet Rachel Walsh.
She's been living it up in New York City, spending her nights talking her way into glamorous parties before heading home in the early hours to her hot boyfriend, Luke.
But her sensible older sister showing up and sending her off to actual rehab wasn't quite part of her plan.
She's only agreed to her incarceration because she's heard that rehab is wall-to-wall Jacuzzis, gymnasiums and rock stars going cold turkey - plus it's about time she had a holiday.
Saying goodbye to fun will be hard. But not as hard as losing the man who she realises, all too late, might just be the love of her life....
Critic reviews

love love love
Read this a long time ago and loved it. With the sequel coming out soon, I wanted to refresh my memory and was so delighted to see this released recently. With 2 small children audiobooks are so handy! Can't wait for the next one.

What a brilliant book
I too grew with the character - originally thinking that everyone was over reacting to her drinking but soon realised the depth this book has. Full of quirky jokes too. I loved it

Just lovely
I wanted to read Again Rachel but had never read Rachel’s holiday so I began here. I’ve had it in my ears for the past week and adored it SO much. I’ve laughed out loud and felt like I’ve really got to know Rachel so I’m now really excited for the sequel

Another great book from Marian
What a great read! Not read a bad one from this author. Loved the fact she narrated it herself. As the one who created the characters, it was very fitting that she brought them to life herself. Story arc was great, sad, funny, harrowing, enlightening. Well done you!

Thought provoking indeed.
I bought this book as I so wanted to read the follow-up book and I’m so glad I did.
Obviously a huge amount of research went into the making of this story, which is why it felt so real. Laugh out load stuff and then exstream sadness. Wow a must read.

Loved loved loved this book
Until a year or so ago I had only read a couple of Marian Keyes books, so I now have the happy experience of catching up with everything I’ve missed. I found Rachel’s holiday utterly compelling, listening late into the night, at times heartbroken at her situation and delighted has she continued her journey. Very well written, perceptive, compassionate and funny, I love that it is narrated by the author. Highly recommended

Outstanding
The story took you deep into the mind and feelings of the addicts, as well as the affect on the people around them.
Beautifully written and narrated.

More Marian Keyes narration, please!
Love her books so very much, but especially the author narrating! I hope Keyes will narrate more of her own titles in the future.

Another Great Walsh Family Ride!
Just finished 14 hours of the 25th anniversary edition of this wild, hilarious, and heart filled work of art. It’s a delight to listen to Marian Keyes herself narrating this audiobook, different from the earlier edition. I once heard Marian interview another writer. I was so taken with her that I explored her own work. And as I make my way through her huge list of books, I have never been sorry! Her honest voice stays with me after each story.

Soooo boring!
I have heard so many people rave about this book and this character.
I found this book sooooo boring, the character unremarkable and unrelatable. I had to stop at Chapter 5 because I couldn’t focus on it.
I didn’t enjoy the narration either. Terrible.
It is just really basic chick lit.

Great narration. Story is good. Not an obsessive page turner but I looked forward to picking up where I left off.

Creepy Narration
I read this book when it first came out and loved it. I thought I would listen as a treat. Rachel is in her 20s and the narration should reflect the age of the character. Instead, it feels like someone’s grandmother has taken the book and is reading it out loud. Very bizarre, uncomfortable, and I just couldn’t get through the whole thing because of it. I hope this will be re recorded by an age appropriate professional narrator at some point. I think the author is clever and very funny and I enjoy her work, but this reading is a miss.

Great, read with memorable characters
Only Marion Keyes can write about such a serious topic as addiction with humor, warmth, understanding, and realism. Couldn’t put this book down.

Listening to Marian read was even better than when I read the book myself.
The honesty and precision of the way Marian
Keyes can put her thoughts on to paper just keeps on amazing me. I soak up her thoughts as though I am the character. That is a true talent. Being Irish also helps, we have no problem making light of ourselves. But It was the subliminal way I received an insight into the world of addiction that was the takeaway prize of listening to “Rachel’s holiday”. Marians style of writing is like listening to your true friends talk openly about their dirty knickers or their lack of money. I loved the story, loved the author and loved her reading her own masterpiece . I highly recommend listening, even if you read it before, as I had!
