Summary

Funny, moving and truthful...Quite.

Claudia Winkleman's warmth, humour, no-holds-barred attitude and smoky eye have made her the favourite broadcaster of millions and a much-loved household name.

In this, her first ever book, Claudia invites us all into her world. This is a memoir with a difference (owing to its lack of a plot - genuinely, how do people do that?) and Claudia shares her observations on topics such as the importance of melted cheese, why black coats are vital, how it's never okay to have sex with someone who has an opinion on your date outfit, how nurses are our most precious national treasure and why colourful clothing is only for the under 10s (if you're reading this sporting a bright red jumper and you're nine, great! If you're older, sorry).

This is a love letter to life: the real, sometimes messy kind. Quite celebrates friendship, the power of art, the highs and lows of parenting and of course how a good eyeliner can really save your life.

Heartfelt, wry and unmistakably Claudia, this book gets to the heart of what really matters.

quite un relatable

Sadly Claudia talks so much about her middle class life that it isn’t relevant to many. I’m so so so pleased she has an amazing husband but it’s not always so easy to get that Match. It feels a bit Bragging dressed up as friendly advice.

Glorious!

Witty, laugh out loud funny, sharp, perceptive, intelligent - I always wished she was my actual sister, now I know I was correct to wish that and I’m GUTTED she isn’t.

Disappointing

I like Claudia which was why I chose this book but I found it to be very strident and just a perpetual list of statements.

Behind the fringe.

Surprisingly warm, witty, comfortable read. A lovely insight in to the woman behind that famous fringe. But it goes further than that ..... personal insight of little nuggets of advice and knowledge gained through failure, honesty and just a little luck. Loved this book.

What's Not To Love!

Claudia reads her book as if she's having a chat with you...her friend. I know when I feel like a chat in future ill just dip in and out for a catch up with my mate Claude! 🥰

Thank you 💕

She makes me laugh, cry and really rethink my pace in life. Her passion for those things that are important to her and her family are an inspirational to me. I’m about to listen to the whole book again! Not joking. You are a rockstar!

Gutted that this has ended.

I really can't say anything eloquent here. I meted this out, gave myself daily maximum doses.

I'll go back to the beginning and listen again now.

Essentially I felt ensconced in Claudia's world, which, to me, is the soundest, kindest, most moral world I've listened to in a long time. I felt at home and cosseted. But she's so clever and so funny that there was more than a little exhilaration.

Utter joy.

Brilliant. I loved every minute of it.

Going to make everyone a cuppa then use the tea bags on my face and grow my fringe immediately! Wise words!

Just brilliant!

A feel good and very funny book. Loved every minute and agreed with 90% of it! Thanks for making me smile Claudia, even during the lows of 2020/lockdown.

Didn’t even know who Claudia was before this book

Truthfully I caught a two minute clip of her promoting her book on the graham Norton show and her view on picnics made me giggle. Cut forward to me getting the audio book and it has not disapointed. Funny. To the point. Easy listening. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to her view points!
