About this listen

A former hockey player and a bossy twink…a match made in heaven or in hell?

Brent Cameron’s done with college hockey and ready to celebrate leaving the closet with a summer road trip around Lake Michigan. But when his best friend bails, there’s only one solution…agree to let a guy he barely knows tag along.

Lowell Prescott’s been called everything under the sun—jersey chaser, slutty twink…but he’s always let the chase jocks chase him. Until now.

He can’t resist the chance to spend a summer “helping out” the left defenseman he has a teensy little crush on. Too bad Brent can’t see it that way.

When they hit the road, animosity melts in the summer sun, replaced by a new simmering tension. As friendship and attraction bloom, they slowly realize they’re on their way to a destination neither of them expected.

But before they reach their happy ending, they’ll be tested by Brent’s past and Lowell’s damaged heart.

The stakes are high when you play for keeps.

Push & Pull contains well-intentioned scheming, meddling friends, a snarky fashionista, and a “dumb jock” who is anything but.

Thanks to Gay Book Promotions I got the chance to hear this fun story. Brent and Lowell end up together taking a road trip. It starts out pretty rough but develops into something else. The secondary characters play a big part to see how these two fit together. There is plenty of emotion, a little fun and the push and pull between friends. The narrator, James Edward Jones brought these characters to life. I’m anxious to hear the next in this series.

Brigham Vaughn is one of my absolute favourite authors and this was another amazing story! James Edward Jones brought Brent, Lowell and their journey to life. Beautifully written and I adore the setting of the series - Chicago and the Midwest are gorgeous and it was portrayed wonderfully. Can't wait to listen to the rest of the series!

Loved this story so much!

This book really is a joy. I loved Brent, the recently out hockey player, and his journey to acceptance of his sexuality and what being out meant for him. Lowell, well occasionally I felt like slapping him upside the head, but he’s unashamedly flamboyant and true to himself, and you can’t help but like him even when he’s being a bit of a dick. Because ultimately, he’s just protecting his heart. And Brent chipping his way through that protective layer provides a lovely, funny, sometimes infuriating story.

There’s a road trip and Pride, camping and posh hotels, hand holding and steamy sex. We get to check in with Nathan and Caleb, and get a brief glimpse of a possible relationship for Micah. That’s an angry, bitter story in the making but one I’d be interested to read if the author can find redemption for Micah.

The narrator did an excellent job.

Highly recommended.

A great addition to the series by Brigham Vaughn. Want to say the second story is just as good as the first. Lowell and Brent are fantastic together. So glad they got their own story. James Edward Jones did a super job with the narration.

Great addition

I loved this story so much when I read it and I really think this narrator has made me love it even more. He has a great delivery that makes it really easy to follow the story and he does so well in making the characters distinctively themselves.

I loved Brent and Lowell and their road trip (which made me want to do the same trip) and their personal journeys to a better understanding of themselves and each other.

I thought Brent’s personal development and gradual adjustment of his self-image was particularly well-done. I thought he and Lowell were very convincing together (from the grumpiness at the start to the sweetness by the end). Lowell has his own journey to make too and he was also a very likeable character.

Micah was horrible in this story but the green shoots of redemption were just about visible and those are developed in the next story.

Such a good story and audiobook. ❤️❤️❤️
