Summary

Love. Honor. Protect.

As an environmental studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble - a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct. What Allie doesn't know is that her world's decline is a result of an ancient battle called the Night War - the Norse goddess Nott's crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn't know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.

When four gorgeous guys show up claiming to be Allie's Asgardian protectors, she thinks they're delusional. And when they order her to hunt down the pieces of an immortal weapon, she's convinced they're insane. But when Allie's attacked, the guys' crazy stories of demigods and dark elves begin coming together. And Allie's not sure what scares her more - losing her life to the Goddess of Night...or losing her heart to one of her protectors.

Let the hunt begin.

Not bad, not great

This book based its realm in Norse mythology which is fun. There is a good drive to the plot with a clear mission, but this book only covers the first steps so ends before it feels like it should. The narrator pitches the male voices so low and out of her range, that specifically the main male character lacks any inflection, which is fairly annoying. There are better read and written books out there, but it's okay as a light read

Protector

This is a great first book in the series, with fighting, feeling, and confusion. looking forward to the next one.

If only

The story had potential it's a little cheesy but that's fine.... it's the writing that killed it for me and the narrator a bit... seriously the writing felt like a sixteen hour old girl decided to try her hand at writing. It felt like she tried to mix a romance novel with a YA novel but failed miserably at both. Maybe try editing and using more words then hotness and phrases like "that's what she said".

However I did like the Norse mythology the author sounded like she knew a bit and did research for it.

Love love love this book 📚

I love this story. Nothing like a Norse mythology story to ignite the imagination. Another bad ass chick and her 4 sidekicks ( 4 hot sidekicks). I would recommend to all my friends. The narrator did a fantastic job with the characters. I like her style.

It's okay

Norse mythology is something I’m not very accustomed to, but I found this book well didactic in some points, clarifying the basics on the subject (nordic mytology). However, at other moments the story becomes very vague, which left me lost in relation to the existing realms.
Leaving these facts aside, as they help build the setting for the story, the tale is somewhat different from what I expected, since I know the style of the two authors, and I think working together wasn’t very constructive.
I found the plot empty, something missing ... everything happens fast and seems like a writing for the school, where there isn’t a connection between the beginning and the end.

meh...

kept listening but throughout it felt like it was a poorly written tween book. The narration was too teen sounding, high pitch. i slowed it down to 75% to get through it. Rainbow bridges, sleep curses and some Nordic mythology. Not the worst not the best.

Trying too hard

I did love the plot of this book, but I feel like the authors were trying way too hard to make it relatable to a teen audience. While some parts of the boom were great, other parts, mainly about her “favorite protector” were very cringy.
