There was more to this book than I expected and I really liked the characters (and the dogs), however it did feel like parts of the story were missing. While they characters did know each other previously, it didn't sound like they were even friends. It felt more like an insta-love story than a typical second chance.

I like Natalie May's voice as a narrator, though it had what seemed like more than a few mispronunciations. (Was the ex-wife's name Brigit? It's hard to know for sure without seeing the text, but it didn't sound right.)
