Summary

A passion to live for - and to die for - in the RITA-winning series from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Elisabeth Naughton.

Up-and-coming designer Kelsey McClane is on the cusp of success. Recently divorced, she should be enjoying her newfound freedom and glamorous future. Instead, she’s living in fear of the past. When she returns home to Portland on a press tour, danger creeps closer than ever. As threatening messages from her bitter ex-husband leave her vulnerable, a new man in her life makes her feel protected.

Former Army Ranger turned security professional Hunter O’Donnell is hired to guard Kelsey. When a shattering explosion rocks her world, Kelsey’s ex is the prime suspect, but Hunter speculates there’s more to the situation than Kelsey’s letting on. Intent on keeping her safe, he delves into Kelsey’s past. As the two work together to unmask her stalker’s identity, a fire ignites between them that they both struggle to contain.

While the investigation proceeds, it draws them closer not only to each other but also to a lethal plot that’s been in the works behind their backs. And with each new secret unveiled, it’s not just temptation putting them at risk - it’s a madman who will not stop until Kelsey is dead.

Pretty good

It was a good book and I don't regret buying it. Then only thing I didn't like was that Kelsey's character's issues were repeated to many times.

Ok read have it 3 stars

Didn't care for all the anxiety over the violence. Unfortunately, I did not feel as much empathy for the heroine. Taking the blame and feeling accountable for every act of violence perpetrated on her was exasperating not entertaining. I understand survivors ' guilt , however, for some reason this character annoyed me, with the panic attacks and the aversion to violence, the fear the hero's military background.... My least favorite book of the series.

Mystery, Suspence, and Romance

This story started off with a bang, in the literal sense. With a bomb. From there,Kelsey and Hunter teamed up to figure out who was really behind the explosion and the threats. The suspense and angst grew with every twist and turn of events unfolding. Well written characters and riveting story line, I was on the edge of my seat through the whole thing. Amy Landon narrative brought the book to life. I do recommend both the book and the audio to Ramance and Non-Romance readers alike.

It started off good.

The first half was good. The last part was meh. I liked the last book better.

Amy Landon is Great

storyline was great. Amy Landon is my favorite performer... her voice changes are perfect. again, I love sex and definitely not a prude, but not so much descriptive sex in a thriller. sex and big manly men who are protective of and falling for the strong yet troubled woman is greatness, but in an artistic descriptive way, not pornographic. won't keep me away, however, due to Naughton's thrilling storytelling.

Romantic Who Done It and Why?

Complex heroine falls for strong protector. They struggle with many problems and separate for many reasons. However, they are drawn back to each other again and again until they can no longer deny to themselves that they love each other and belong together.

Disappointed

Where do I start? Let’s say I should have “listened” to the reviews, they are 100% accurate. This book is boring, poorly written, the main character is a whiner, very dramatic and you just want to grab her and throw her out of the story. And to top it off, the narrator does a horrible job. Overall, DON’T waste your money or time.

Mediocre

I really liked the first two books in the series - but this one doesn't measure up. It was just too cheesy and the characters came off as rather weak. Their reasoning skills seemed to lack common sense and purpose.

I think part of it is the narrator - Amy Landon is ok for the female characters, but she has a tendency to draw words out and I thought it made the men sound like big dumb oafs.

I made it through the entire book - but I was glad when it was over. I think it might be better if I had read it rather than listened.
