Summary
Duke Morgan owns and operates one of the largest bail bond companies in Atlanta. Not only does he bond criminals out of jail, he and his notorious group of bounty hunters will also track them down and ensure they show up for court.
Roman "Quick" Webb is Duke's business partner and best friend. Both men are in their forties and have given up on the happily ever after with the ranch-style home, and white picket fence. They'd both tried it and failed miserably. But they have their friendship and they have the business.
When Quick's son, Vaughan Webb returns - after seven years-from studying abroad with his law degree in hand, he's back to claim what he's always wanted...his fathers' best friend...Duke Morgan. Vaughan has always claimed to be a classic gentleman with an old soul. He was focused and dedicated to becoming the man worthy of Duke's love.
It's a complex and messy situation as Duke and Quick figure out how to still be best friends when one of them is sleeping with his friend's one and only son. But when Duke is hurt on the job, all the unimportant trivialities fall to the wayside and Vaughan and Quick put their heads together to save Duke.

A good begiining full of Promise!
I am totally addicted to A.E. Via's Nothing Special series on Audible.
So I was very happy to see Promises: Bounty Hunters appear on Audible!
I have not previously read the stories in book/kindle format so these stories are all new to me and I LOVE them. Promises Part 1's story line was not as quite as enjoyable as Part 2. The story did not grip me as they usually do. It was great to find out more about Duke, but I was not overly keen on Vaughan, would have liked Duke and Quick to get together.
As always the top quality narration by Aiden Snow (that voice!) really brings these characters to life.

Good thing Aiden Snow was narrating
I cannot understand that the same person who wrote God and Day wrote this. The characters are completely unbelievable - they do ridiculous things despite being supposedly clever.
Absolutely nothing happens. You know when the author starts describing each dish on the curry takeaway you've hit rock bottom.
It was boring, unbelievable and I was glad when it was over.
Good thing Aiden Snow was narrating otherwise I would not have made it to the end,

Could've been a work of art
Let's be real, it's terrible, and it's so sad because it started soooo amazing!!! I immediately fell in love with the characters, they were so hot together, so perfect, and just wow. It was funny and refreshing to see the relationship of the father helping his son to get the man he loves. So so beautiful.
Then.... Why is it so bad? Because after a few chapters in, there's a switch where the entire book changes and becomes this dramatic, boring, TV novella, where NOTHING happens except talk and experience a major surgery. And when I say nothing, I mean 18 chapters could be edited to 2 chapters and still make sense....
After that everything is ruined. The characters feel forced, they go from 2 dates to ommmggg I love him, without other reason than he's hot... It is as if two writers wrote this book, an amazing one wrote the first part, and a really, really bad writer did the last.
I'm adding this author to my "never again" list, im just happy this was free

Well! That’s one Promise fulfilled.
Great story. Hot characters. Marvellous narration by Aiden Snow - a voice sooo sultry it could melt butter. Left me in a puddle.

Really enjoyed this. Love that Duke got his own book. I felt kinda bad for him in Don’t Judge book(nothing special series). But he’s now got his HEA too

It was good
It was a good story. I liked all the characters. Duke and Vaughan underwent an extremely challenging and life-altering situation before their relationship even began, but they emerged from the experience united and stronger than ever. I loved the dynamic between Quick and Vaughan. Quick was an absolute jerk on one instance but I felt it was to set up the plot line for the next book which was confirmed when I listened to the next book right after I finished this one.
🎧 Aiden Snow narrated beautifully.

Duke
Duke had secretly hoped that he and Judge one day would be an item. But when Judge fell in love with the much younger Austin, he realised he would be on his own for his remaining days. Then his friend and business partner Quick reintroduces his son Vaughn, who has been in love with Duke since he first saw him. He decided not to come back to Duke before he had grown into a man, sophisticated, experienced and knowing how to care for Duke. Duke can't believe the young, handsome man is interested in him, plus isn't it weird he is the son of his best friend? When extracting a bond goes horribly wrong and Duke is seriously injured and about to die, Vaughn can't let that happen and does the only thing he knows how to care for Duke and make sure they can have a life together. I'm a huge fan of AE Via's books and this spin-off of the Nothing Special Series is just as amazing with all the handsome burly men wearing leather and when they fall in love, they fall deeply. Aiden Snow is a fantastic narrator who made it quickly into my top 3 of narrators. His deep voice is sexy as hell and makes the story come alive.

A fascinating premise of the story!
Story: I can't say too much because I hate spoilers, but the situation the MCs find themselves in was a masterpiece! I love how unique the story was and how the emotions were shaped around it! An age gap, medical problems, dad's best friend and a dangerous profession to boot!
The story is full of very strong characters and their feelings were captured really well (as ususal for AE Via). Looking forward to reading the next book, because it's bound to be good too!
Narration: Aiden Snow did a great job as usual! His voice and narration style is perfect for those stories and does the alpha characters justice!
