I don't review enough, but this was really compelling and well paced. Inadequate world building takes me out of fantasy, this was a very well realised world. The narrator would not initially have been my first choice for romance but he brought real beauty to the Welsh words here and I quickly got on board. Well done

I've just finished this book with tears in my eyes, and 2 main characters I have fought with side by side.
I have never come across an author who puts so much feeling into legends and hero's.
it's gonna kill me to wait for the next chapter. but already I know it'll be worth it.
fight for your beliefs, your legends and your love.
I'm so exhausted now. what a brilliant book. I need a nap.

Merlin meets Agatha Christie

This is a completely daft story, but if you don’t fall in love with the two heroes there’s something wrong with you and why were you even listening to it. However, I was hoping for a different ending …. And I doubt book 2 will cheer me up, judging by the title … but I will get it anyway and buy more tissues. It is very Welsh, which only seems to add to the poignancy like so many things Welsh (I live in the Marches, so I can identify with some of the sentiment even when shrouded in unlikely history and much weirdness). It will stay with me, in many threads and some tears.

I honestly really enjoyed this book. The narration was phenomenal, it really helped to draw me into the story. I am so curious on how the tale will be continued in future books!
