I loved this book within the psy changeling trinity series.
We get to see the descendant of one the power couple of the old council - Henry and Shoshana - fighting what she believes is the disintegration of her mind.
A meeting with a cat shifter changes everything as he protects her during a pregnancy and investigates who's behind her wavering control and sanity.
It was great to see Remi who we've seen before and an old link to the council.
steamy, fun and emotional.

I liked that it was A new pack Rainfire and a new protagonist. It is excellent narration

I've been reading Nalini Singh's books for a lot of years, and I've stuck with her for a reason. But recent books have been disappointing. This one is very much in line with her recent additions to this series: no better, no worse. The story follows the same formula as all the others. The only unusual thing here is that the "big reveal" is clear the first time it's introduced. Other books hinted at what was going to happen, but still held back a little surprise for later. This one didn't. The book does set up for the next book, which I'll read because I care about the original characters - some of them have been in my life for the best part of 20 years already, but at this point I'm giving up on hoping for any more well written additions to the series.

Excellent narration. That’s the only good point. Weak and 2D characters. Questionable ethics in the seduction of a brain damaged woman, the day after she gives birth.

I’ve enjoyed many of Nalini Singh’s other works and have read guild hunter and pay-changeling since the start but this one is a very weak addition to the series. I nearly gave up on this book part way through.

The ‘reveal’ was obvious from about 5mins in. This story fits into the larger world-building in only the last couple of chapters and in a way that seems like an afterthought.
