This was a fabulous start to a series, adventure, intrigue, conflict and brilliant characters. I am so looking forward to hearing the rest of Riley's story and know it will be as absorbing as this audiobook. Fab narrator really brought it to life for me.

This was a pretty quick listen but still packed in plenty of suspense as the heroine Rylee tries to track down a missing child. I love the supernatural world building and can't wait to find out more as the books progress as we are given hints to the different politics at play. There are plenty of interesting side characters too which I'm keen to learn more about; some good, some bad and some definitely hovering in between! The jury is out on Milly, the Shaman and our big bad. Knowing this is a larger series, I think there may be a few hidden agendas to come to light.

Lauren Fortgang is a fantastic narrator and adds a warmth to Rylee even when she is being stubborn and snarky. I adored Fortgang playing Alex though; he is so sweet and innocent and I loved every single "Ryleeee" that came out of his mouth.

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
