About this listen

Emory Ker

Who makes out with a random guy at a club while someone else is giving him head? Not me—that's who. I'd never even hooked up with a stranger. Welp, now I had. If you could call what I'd done hooking up. But it was so much more intimate than a hook-up. I'd tasted his lips as someone else made him come. He'd gasped into my mouth.

Now I'm sitting in front of him, and he's asking me to kiss him again.

River Wade

We became famous overnight. One day, I was a twenty-four-year-old drummer slinging pizzas to make ends meet, and the next, I was a member of the most popular alternative band ever.

Despite being world-famous, there was no connection in it. I'd lost touch with reality, with intimacy. I couldn't find a place to be normal. I'd lived my entire life straight-edged while watching obsession destroy my best friend.

Obsession terrified me—that is until I met him.

The first taste left me intoxicated. The rockstar obsessed with the writer—rather funny if you think about it. After a night with him, he vanishes into thin air, and all the money in the world can't help me find him.

I have to track him down and convince him there might be millions of people who would do anything to get a chance to sleep with me, but I only had eyes for him.

Convince this beautiful boy I'm pretty obsessed.

Pretty Obsessed is an out-for-you romance with a dirty-talking, obsessive rockstar who falls for a cinnamon roll writer. This is book one in The Pretty Broken series. All books follow a different couple.

Half of the time, instead of Emory, I heard Henry, (or maybe I heard Emry). Like truly, I had to reread the blurb to find out that I just misheard. The book was good, the performance amazing and the characters lovely. I love MMC, but Iris stole my heart.

Who Is Henry?

Great narration & the story started strong, but it lost its way around 50% in as the characters were already super into each other and then just kept talking in circles for the second half of the book about why they “couldn’t be together” for some unclear reason?

Then their friends were like “JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER CLEARLY” and bam problem solved.

It had potential

Fantastic storyline, great complex characters and a happy ever after. I can't wait to listen to the next book in the series.

This was a strange mix of explosively fast slow burn, where only Iris was really brought to the front as the side character that mattered. All the other band members were left to the sides so that it felt like River and Iris were the band.
Therefore, River's story was the only one that piqued my interest in the least for after this heeing and hawing was over.

The main characters got very much into each other at nearly warp speed. So much so that at approximately 2/5 into the story it made me feel like I'd accidentally skipped a chapter or two.

Then began the endless NOT SPEAKING WITH EACH OTHER, which made me want to rip my hair out and shake both of the idiots. Of course, lack of communication is the main reason of breakups, I think, so... Not that out there in that sense.

To me this felt like hot porn bits and the plot that was built on frustratingly prolonged series of presumptions and non-communication. To the extent that it almost made me want to quit listening around 75% marker.

This makes me not want to hear the rest of the stories in the series/collection.

Superstar, author, flash romance, and hole-y lack of communication

I love a story where you see commitment and devotion in amongst all the plot and an ample supply of hot nooky.
I liked this story.

Love the love
