Paul Scofield and Patricia Routledge star in Noël Coward’s classic comedy of manners. Private Lives was written in 1930 and has been a mainstay of British theatre ever since. This sharply funny play of reversals focuses on Elyot and Amanda, a passionate but feuding couple who divorced five years before. Now, on the first night of their honeymoons with their new partners, they find that they are all staying in the same hotel on the French Riviera. Fireworks are inevitable....

Story
Oscar Wilde's first play confronts the hypocrisy of public "morality" compared with genuine, private kindness. The reasons for its continued popularity are not difficult to identify: the play's witty dialogue contains many of Wilde's most quoted aphorisms, its stylish setting provides opportunities for elegant presentation, and its cast of memorable characters play out a story which is genuinely moving. This new audio production brings together a full cast worthy of Wilde's creative genius.

Story
Inspector Rudge does not encounter many cases of murder in the sleepy seaside town of Whynmouth. But when an old sailor lands a rowing boat containing a fresh corpse with a stab wound to the chest, the Inspector's investigation immediately comes up against several obstacles. The vicar, whose boat the body was found in, is clearly withholding information, and the victim's niece has disappeared. There is clearly more to this case than meets the eye - even the identity of the victim is called into doubt.

A fabulous and funny play
Noel Coward's play sparkles with wit, intrigue, fun and much laughter. The cast play their parts with gusto, ok the 'swedish accent' is a little dodgy but as a whole this is a great audible - a fun 1 and a half hours.

As bubbly as champagne
A light look at life with the "Bright Young Things" although our hero is older than he wishes to be. Nothing to test the brain cells here, just an enjoyable listen.

Genius
This is my favorite Noel Coward play...Pickles and Ogilvy are brilliant beyond words. Yeardly Smith is a particular hidden gem who gives incredible depth to anything she does - no matter the role.
