Story
Charlotte Mabry moves to a small town in Alabama, full of plans for a better life, especially for her son, Taylor. Cash is short, but at least she's free from the crushing heartbreak of being married to a man who only cared about money. So even though Nate Haverton sends her pulses racing from the moment they meet, she refuses to let her heart lead her back into misery. Because he might be her son's T-ball coach, but he's also a billionaire.
Summary
After years of pinching pennies and struggling to get through art school, Emma Makie's hard work finally pays off with the offer of a dream job. But when tragedy strikes, she has no choice but to make a cross-country move to Colorado Springs to take temporary custody of her two nieces. She has no money, no job prospects, and no idea how to be a mother to two little girls, but she isn't about to let that stop her. Nor is she about to accept the help of Kevin Grantham, her handsome neighbor, who seems to think she's incapable of doing anything on her own.
Prejudice Meets Pride is the story of a guy who thinks he has it all figured out and a girl who isn't afraid to show him that he doesn't. It's about learning what it means to trust, figuring out how to give and to take, and realizing that not everyone gets to pick the person they fall in love with. Sometimes, love picks them.

Cute PG-13 romance
This is a cute story. For Jane Austen fans, just be aware that this does not in any way mimic the Pride and Prejudice storyline. It deals with the idea of pride and misconceptions, but this is not Darcy and Elizabeth. Moving beyond that though, I did enjoy the story and these were relatively unique characters as romances go. The "love" scenes, don't go beyond making out. I'm letting people know that just as a gauge for personal preference.

A sweet and fun romance!
I enjoy a good romantic story! This was spot on sweet and fun. As I listened, I would find myself smiling and sometimes laughing out loud at the fun flirting between Kevin and Emma. It was so refreshing to have a clean, romance in a modern Austen way!

Sweet Romance Between Neighbors
This was a sweet romance between neighbors, who at first glance did not like what they saw. Emma moved in with her nieces and beat up old car "Sunshine". Kevin hoped they were there to fix up the house and put out a For Sale sign.
Emma is stubborn and her pride keeps her from accepting help. At first, Kevin tries to help Emma with groceries, she isn't very receptive. She insists on paying him back. The way they go back and forth is cute.
The little girls help bring Emma and Kevin together, first out of need, then friendship that turns into romance.
I enjoyed reading/listening to this book. It was a quick, fun, clean, romance.

just didn't have the patience to listen to this
The story set up okay but the pity party came on just a bit too hard and strong. Lost patience with the story development and the narrator is not a fit for this material which flattens the story even more. Needed some feeling of chemistry sooner some sparks.

Did not finish. Not for me.
I got to the 1 hour 37 minute mark and could not go on. This couple doesn’t get along from the moment they meet and perhaps that’s supposed to kickstart an enemies to lovers vibe, but to me their stand-off became tedious instead.
The heroine has too much pride and insults the hero when he’s trying to show compassion, and he is a bit dense when he doesn’t listen to the heroine when she asks him not to behave a certain way.
But when he frustratedly asked a question I found offensive, I knew I’d had enough.
Perhaps the novel improves and both protagonists’ characters develop? I hope so. But I could not finish this book.

Gah!!
Gah.... that was horrible!! An insult to Jane Austen fans everywhere. To imply that this is a twist on Pride and Prejudice is like saying my 4 year old’s self portrait is a twist on Van Gogh’s The Scream. No character development, a one dimensional plot, an incomprehensible romance between the 2 main characters, blatant predictability and seriously uncomfortable cheesiness are some of the things I disliked about this book. Ugh, I cringe to think about it again.
This book attempted to show depth by mentioning sad experiences without giving any layers to the characters or story line. Honestly, the main character was rude, self absorbed, childish, and unlikeable.
I had read a few other books from this author which I quite enjoyed. This book was a colossal disappointment.
