About this listen

A dangerous book. A hidden secret. A deadly betrayal.

The Oxford Literary Festival is in full swing, but Detective Inspector Bridget Hart isn't there to learn about books. Instead, she's been given the task of protecting Diane Gilbert, a controversial author who has received a death threat. Diane doesn't seem to think she needs Bridget's protection, but when the worst happens, Bridget's role switches to running a murder enquiry.

The only clues Bridget has to go on relate to Diane's new book which examines the murky world of international arms deals. Under pressure to identify the killer, Bridget finds herself drawn into the clandestine world of foreign governments and the British Security Service. She'll need all her wiles and the full cooperation of her team to follow the twisting trail of evidence to its logical conclusion.

Lots of twists and turns in this tale of a strong woman who always gets her own way only to be murdered because of it.
My biggest criticism is the way the author portrayed the police especially the way senior officers talk to lower ranks, they never call them by their rank they use first names proper research would have found this out. As an ex police officer I would like to have seen this expressed properly

Good take of revenge murder

I enjoyed this Audible book mainly because the narrator was so good. The content was good as well with a good mix of characters. I would recommend this title and the whole series.

Excellent Series

Got a bit lost at the beginning with red herrings and hints at spooks but, once again, when the story got going it was engaging.

Good plot

Another excellent yarn from M.S. Morris, with extensive knowledge of Oxford as the backdrop. As ever, Esther Wane's narration is spot on.

I liked this story it had some good red herrings. The more I listen to these the more interested I become in the characters.
