Summary

"Knight is a writer to watch. Fun, witty, and unafraid to tackle the big topics in SciFi." - Dragon Award winner Nick Cole

"Knight's blue collar characters are genuine and engaging. The time spent getting to know them heightens the impact when they are thrust into a gripping & savage fight for survival." - Jon Mollison, author of Sudden Rescue

"Action packed, engaging characters, and one of the most creative premises I've encountered." - Bre Faucheux, author of Violet Drake

"Compelling characters that feel real. Its got a bit of everything from corporate intrigue to a romance you can root for. Stella work." - Jon Del Arroz, Dragon Award-nominated author of Rescue Run and For Steam and Country

A group of blue collar workers are selected to run the first manned space station, Praxis, at the edge of our galaxy. It will be part of mankind's bold ambition to explore beyond what we know.

But trouble is heading right for them. A gang of vicious alien pirates are fleeing justice, intent on continuing their bloody campaign, and Praxis is in their way.

The workers will have to defend themselves, unarmed, against a ruthless enemy intent on killing them. The biggest threat though, may be the station itself....

a good listen

enjoyed the story... would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a sy-fy story that still maintains a healthy dose of easily relatable characters from today's world.

Slow burner, but well worth it

I was provided with a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

The first thing about this book is the narrator, they can make or break the story by being good or bad. I found Scott's voice perfect for the story, the difference between alien and human voices are clear, he distinguishes between female voices and male well and would be more than happy to listen to him again.

Of course, the narrator needs to be good, but the writing has to be worth listening to. Justin Knight has done a really good job in bringing this story to life.

The way he writes about the aliens is different to most books I've read before, I won't say anymore in case of spoiling the plot.

The story is character driven for the first part and it does take some time to get to Praxis, which is why I called it a slow burner. However once you hit Praxis the action starts and you become enthralled. Each character is well drawn which makes you feel invested when you get to the action.

I loved this, and I look forward to reading/listening to more of Justin's work in the future.
