Summary
John Mark Comer, the New York Times bestselling author of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry and Live No Lies, shows readers what is holding them back from authentically following Jesus - and reveals the countercultural practices to connect us with a vibrant lifelong faith.
"One of the most important books I have read in a decade... If we would all follow in this way, our lives would change and the world would change." Jennie Allen, author of Get Out of Your Head and Find Your People
We all have experienced unwanted parts of our spiritual journey: distance from God, gaps in our character, the fear that our lives will be trivial and empty... Jesus is calling us into more. Calling us to be shaped in his likeness. To experience his abundance of life.
But how, practically, can we do that? By becoming his apprentice. By practicing the Way.
Outlining the timeless process of being with Jesus, becoming like him, and living as he did, bestselling author and pastoral voice John Mark Comer delineates God's vision for the journey of our soul.
In this powerful and practical work, he defines his core philosophy of spiritual formation to help us form a "rule of life."
Along the way, readers benefit from his rich cultural insight, deep biblical teaching, and honest and hopeful view of the potential of each human soul.
You feel like there's more to life than this? You're right. Now come discover just how much life awaits you.

Listened to this while walking the Camino de Santiago. Very apt! Recommend to all who want to take big or small/ baby steps with/ towards Jesus. I did 500 miles.

A helpful book for those wanting to deepen their faith.
As someone who leads a church I love these kinds of books. A reminder we’re not called to be great leaders, but great followers. That we can’t pretend when it comes to discipleship. We must PRACTICE discipleship.

Easy to Read and Highly Practical
This is my first title from JMC but I'm familiar with his ministry and it was actually thanks to him that I discovered Dallas Willard whom he references a handful of times in this book.
I think he has done the body of Christ a great service in making this helpful work.
It was very easy to read, didn't bog you down with unnecessary details or stories but rather gets to the key points while keeping you engaged.
The message itself helps you see what following Jesus is like, on the ground, actually doing it day by day and he also provides helpful pointers that prepare you for the inevitable pitfalls of such a lifelong journey.
I really enjoyed reading this book and will be reccomending it to everyone. Do give it a listen! 🙂

Very enlightening
I’ve been on a spiritual journey through a fellowship mentioned multiple times in this book, my journey to the truth has been eventful and emotional, I am still drawn however by this unseen force. I often fall victim to self when endeavouring to grow spiritually. I always know better and my ego is off. The points raised in this book on simplicity in growth I believe will be the catalyst I needed to grow.
Thank you.
