About this listen

THE INSTANT NO. 1 INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLING PHENOMENON. OVER 5 MILLION COPIES SOLD!

Fourth Wing meets The Hunger Games in this sizzling fantasy romance not to be missed.

Only the extraordinary belong in the kingdom of Ilya . . . The exceptional. The Elites. The Elites have possessed powers for decades, gifted to them by the Plague, while those born Ordinary are just that, banished from the kingdom and shunned from society.

No one knows this better than Paedyn Gray, an Ordinary posing as an Elite. When she unsuspectingly saves one of Ilya’s princes, Kai Azer, she’s thrown into the Purging Trials, a brutal competition to showcase her ‘Elite’ powers.

If the Trials and the opponents don’t kill her, the prince she’s fighting feelings for will if he discovers what Paedyn really is . . . completely Ordinary.

Be swept away by the first in the smash hit, dagger-to-the-throat romantasy trilogy that's taken the world by storm.

Also Available: Reckless, Powerful, Fearless and Fearful.

the story had good bones but lacks insight into each character or the trials.
it focuses too much on the will they, won't they get together. whereas so many options to expand on the trials, the rebellion, the kingdom etc
felt the characters are written for pre teens and not young adults. There personalities come across immature . it's a easy read if you just want to switch off but not worth purchasing the trilogy

good story but amateur writing

It reminds me a bit of fourth wing in the way the main character is different and seemingly weaker than the other characters, but has strength of the mind, which overpowers everything. I am running to the next one…
Great writing and great narrating

Great story

absolutely amazing story the only snag is I felt it took about 7hrs of the 17 to get into it. the ending definitely leaves me wanting and I will definitely be listening to the 2nd book and probably the spin off short novel.

only dropping it from 5 stars to 4 based on the fact it took a long time to get into.

Amazing story.... when it got into it

I did like the Hunger Games so really enjoyed this book. Great performances from the narrators to bring characters to life and feel the tension between them all. Good story, unexpected ending

Very similar to hunger games but still good

I really enjoyed this book, although not the most original theme, as it was quite like hunger games, but around princes. Definitely worth listening to

Good
