About this listen
The unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Clive Cussler and Paul Kemprecos's Polar Shift, the tense, fast-moving sixth instalment in NUMA files novels. Read by the award-winning narrator Scott Brick.
Polar Shift: It is the name for a phenomenon that may have occurred many times in the past. At its weakest, it disorients birds and animals and damages electrical equipment. At its worst, it causes massive eruptions, earthquakes and climatic changes. At its very worst, it would mean the obliteration of all living matter...
Sixty years ago, an eccentric Hungarian genius discovered how to artificially trigger such a shift, but then his work disappeared, or so it was thought. Now, the charismatic leader of an anti-globalization group plans to use it to give the world's industrialized nations a small jolt, before reversing the shift back again. The only problem is, it can't be reversed. Once it starts, there is nothing anyone can do.Austin, Zavala and the rest of the NUMA Special Assignments Team have certainly faced dire situations before, but never have they encountered anything like this. This time even they may be too late.

Polar Shift
Really enjoyed the story lines and the way it was related. Reminded me a Jack Higgins plot at the start, but it developed into an interesting Cussler style maze as it developed. I really enjoyed it.

Not quite sure...
I used to be a big fan of Dirk Pitt a lot of years ago so thought I would give Clive Cussler a go on Audible, but it was the NUMA files series that was on offer, not Dirk Pitt, so I took a chance on them.
I struggled to get into this as I found it a bit slow and nothing about it grabbed me, but after a break to listen to another book, I came back for a second go and persevered. Once I got to the second half it definitely improved and with Scott Brick's narration I got into the story. Another reviewer says this isn't his best so I will try another book or two and perhaps find one with Dirk Pitt.

Not the best of Cussler
I have found the heady mix of the Numa file books and the strong narration of Scott Brick to be a perfect combination and have found myself completely absorbed by the action as it unfolds. However, whilst Scott delivered yet another sterling performance, the book did not perform quite so well. There was what seemed a very slow start with the main characters not really seeing the light of day for nearly 2 hours. The plot was also a bit weak and confusing at times, bordering on silly. Such a shame. Prior to this booked I leapt at the Numa books with zest, but now find myself looking at alternatives, just in case.

Not even a remotely plausible plot.
I tried desperately to get into the story but it kept letting me down. I was losing the plot on many occasions out of disinterest
