About this listen

Born into chaos. Baptized in the gutter.

I was raised by the violent laws of the streets, spilling blood without the hindrance of useless emotions or connections. Unfeeling. Unloved. Alone.

My life was perfect. Until her.

While on a manhunt for a mysterious enemy, one hellbent on taking both my business and my life, I find Mickey. She's covered in mud, rambling nonsense, and clearly out of her mind. She's also a distraction I don't need.

That is until I discover a connection between the girl and my enemy. Mickey isn't a distraction anymore. She's the perfect weapon. One I'll use to exact my revenge. The plan is an easy one, but there's something about Mickey that's making it more and more difficult. A familiarity I can't place. A need I can't explain. A want I have to deny.

After all, she's not mine to keep. She's a tool. My pawn. My sacrifice.

Contains mature themes.

I love everything Logan Beach, and this is no exception. I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out (and to be honest, it’s a cliffie which I knew going in - it’s in the title folks, Duet #1, so as expected I was left with a few questions). Of course it’s written in the King world, so it had that dark ‘King’ feel to it, which I love. It’s definitely not for the faint hearted. Pike has always been a bit of a non entity to me, until now, and of course I’ve fallen in love with the guy (not sure what that says about me). I’ve not completely warmed to Mickey, but I’m thinking that might change going forward. Lots of action and dodgy dealings throughout and I was on tenterhooks towards the end, now I just need to get started on book 2. The audio was narrated by Teddy Hamilton (perfect) and Elizabeth Hart (the jury’s still out).

Love the narrators but I prefer it when male narrator speaks for all male parts & same for female. It cringes me out a bit when females try to do the male voices & when males try to do female voices. Apart from that, story was good.

Good plot

The writing was good. The story was good, whoever I did battle to finish this one.

Not Disappointed

the narration made the story better
I liked the darkness of it
but still felt there was something missing
I don't want to be told that someone is smart
I want to see it
and I didn't see it in Mickey

good
