Die Handlung spielt auf einem Planeten, mit drei verschieden großen Monden, der komplett mit Wasser bedeckt ist. Bis auf eine Insel. Dort herrscht ein böses Alien und wer sich nicht fügt, wird von der Insel verbannt. Die Verbannten schaffen es, in Pfahlbauten zu überleben.

Miro, ein sechzehnjähriger Junge lebt dort. Er wird von einer Seherin auf die Suche nach Phytera geschickt. Miro ist ein latenter Telepath, der sich in Gesellschaft von seinem Freund Arko auf den Weg macht. Phytera erweist sich als Personifizierung des kollektiven Bewusstseins aller Bäume auf dem Planeten. Miro findet einen großen Baum auf einer kleinen Insel. Es ist die Gestalt von Phytera. Sie unterrichtet Miro und schickt ihn auf eine Mission. Er soll das Alien töten und den Planeten retten, der von der Explosion durch einen Kometen bedroht wird.
